He's a running back. He's a third-round pick. He fits the Lions' new zone running scheme. And he sounds remarkably comfortable and confident. But he's not Kevin Smith, the guy the Lions drafted this year. He's Brian Calhoun, the guy the Lions drafted two years ago. Remember him?

The Lions needed to come out of this year’s draft with a running back. They HAD to. The team had dropped Kevin Jones and was now left with Tatum Bell, Brian Calhoun and Aveion Cason. Yeeesh! This being the Lions, they had plenty of needs so they spent their first two picks on a gigantic offensive lineman and an outside linebacker. No problems there, at least it wasn't two wide receivers. Then they...

Mike Martz is gone. The days of six, seven or eight rushing attempts are over. The Lions want to run the ball more now with Jim Colletto as offensive coordinator. And after cutting Kevin Jones, a first-round pick in 2004, the Lions are down to Tatum Bell, Brian Calhoun and Aveion Cason at running back entering the NFL draft.

Fresno City Council member Brian Calhoun is targeting homeless people with another unnecessary "quality of life" ordinance. Calhoun wants to stop homeless people from asking for money on street medians. In his introduction to the ordinance, Calhoun writes that "Fresno Police records will show that the panhandlers are most often alcoholics, drug addicts or have mental health issues."

Today is the Detroit Lions Super Bowl, the NFL Draft. Bad things normally happen on draft day. Things like Mike Williams, Kalimba Edwards, Brian Calhoun, Joey Harrington, I need not go on. I have just one suggestion for Matt Millen, one he should heed. Follow the advice of a man who had the same track record as you, if not worse. Do what he did, it changed his life. It can change yours... Just who...
