The Chicago Bears made an interesting move Wednesday morning by bringing veteran offensive tackle Fred Miller out of retirement. Miller started for the Bears at right tackle for three seasons, two of which were fantastic and the last of which was ugly. Last season I led the charge with many other Bears fans in asking [...]

Filed under: Bears , NFC North The Chicago Bears needed offensive line depth, and they decided to turn to one of the biggest problems with last year's team ... Fred Miller . I wrote in the Bears team preview that Miller was the worst lineman I'd ever seen in the NFL, and I stand by that criticism based upon last year's sample. According to Fred, though, that wasn't really all his fault : "I was probably...

With the injury to first-round draft pick Chris Williams's back during training camp, the Bears were left with only a rookie seventh-round pick backing up their two starting tackles. To say the team needed a little help in the depth department was an understatement, so after weeks of discussions the team re-signed Fred Miller this week. The Bears cut their former starting tackle after the 2007 season,...

Veteran OT Fred Miller reportedly agreed to a deal for the minimum-salary benefit and will earn roughly $781,000 after a $40,000 signing bonus today. They released OT Kirk Barton in order to make room for Fred Miller. Miller returns to the team that released him in February. They did this because then they wouldn't have to pay him a $500,000 roster bonus that was due March 4. Fred Miller's base salary...

If you think a surprising week one win over the Colts will get me off of Bears GM Jerry Angelo's ass, you've got another thing coming. The reason for this is Angelo's continuing baffling moves like the re-signing of Fred Miller (cutting promising RT Kirk Barton in the process). Besides the fact that Barton is probably a better player than Miller as we speak, this is the type of backward thinking move...

Last year Fred Miller was the goat of the offensive line and took the brunt of the blame and was released for it. Then the line looked bad and people starting getting hurt and the Bears reached out to Miller. The line looks to be coming around and now Fred Miller is being brought back into the mix. Fred Miller turned down more money when the Bears signed him originally in 2005 and he will do the same...

The Chicago Bears still have a one-year contract offer on the table for free-agent OT Fred Miller and Miller might sign that soon because he was brought in today for a workout. The Bears need more depth on that offensive line in case 2nd year pro Josh Beekman or career backup John St. Clair struggle.

Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports free-agent OT Fred Miller worked out for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tuesday and the Buccaneers have offered him a contract worth more than the one-year deal for the league minimum $830,000 offered by the Chicago Bears. Fred Miller is expected to make a decision this week. The Bears probably need this guy, just for depth at the offensive line. They just lost...

In case the Bears forgot the offensive line last season, well it sucked. Becuase of that the Bears released tackle Fred Miller. Faced with a lot of injuries the Bears have reached out to the former Bear to make a return. Agent Harold Lewis said Miller, 35, is mulling whether to sign with the Bears, Texans or Ravens. The decision could be finalized in the next day. "His preference would be to return...
