We could spend all day talking about what we'd hope to see from our offense on Sunday, but let's diversify the conversation for a moment and look at some other aspects of the matchup where we'd be well served winning. 1) Stop Maurice Jones Drew I suppose it's Fred Taylor I should be worried about, given that he ran for 147 yards against us in the first of our two meetings last year. But it's Jones-Drew...

Don't be fooled by Jacksonville's 139 rushing yards against Houston - QB David Garrard accounted for 41 of them. The Jags can't be taken seriously as a Super Bowl threat until they get Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew going on the ground. ... The Chargers are still packing a lot of heat on enemy QBs despite the season-ending loss of Pro Bowl OLB Shawne Merriman, one of the game's premier pass rushers....

Q: Can RB Maurice Jones-Drew produce for the first time this season? A: Who wins? A battered offensive line or a defense that can't stop the run? RBs Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor rushed for 107 and 121 yards, respectively. Jones-Drew broke through big time as he had an additional 59 yards on four receptions. Apparently, a defense that can't stop the rush isn't affected by a decimated offensive...

Filed under: Jaguars , AFC South , NFL Coaching , NFL Rumors The Jaguars were very good at running last year, averaging 149.4 yards per game on the ground, good for second best in the league. That sort of thing usually tends to happen when you have both Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew in your backfield. I say "usually" because it doesn't necessarily happen if a) your offensive line is in shambles...

As I noted, on Sunday I attended the Titans-Jaguars game in Nashville. If you wondered why the game was canceled after the coin-toss, this report from The Onion Network explains Fred Taylor’s existential epiphany upon recognizing the randomness and triviality of life. Note: I was one of the fans who were shouting the imponderable.

That was pretty much what we expected. The Titans defense was awesome only allowing the Jaguars to rush for 33 yards. Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew carried 14 times for 31 yards. The defense sacked David Garrard 7 times, and Cortland Finnegan picked him off twice. The only TD they allowed came off of a Vince Young interception that gave the Jags the ball at the Titans 5 yard line. The offense...
