There is good news to talk about today. The Rams expect DE Leonard Little and LG Jacob Bell back in uniform for Sunday's week 4 game against the Bills. Both have been practicing and are listed as probable. The Rams will need both. Opening up running lanes was huge problem for them last week, and Bell should help with that. The former Titans guard has plenty of familiarity with the Bills' main stopper...

Brandon Mebane versus Jacob Bell In one offseason, Jacob Bell morphed from the perfect NFL guard to the embodiment of bad management. And all it took was $36 million dollars. Bell was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the fifth round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He started 15 games his first season but struggled, allowing 5.25 sacks. He sat most of his second season, but was back in the lineup fulltime...

Nominally naming Richie Incognito as the Rams starting center and moving Setterstrom to right guard gives the Rams a beefy middle to go with their offseason acquisition of Jacob Bell at left guard. Think Al Saunders plans to use the middle of the field much? Last season runs through the center/guard positions accounted for 39% of Washington's running plays, and 33% in 2006 . First, look at size here....

The Rams had a mind-boggling confluence of offensive line issues last season, beginning with the season-ending injury to left tackle Orlando Pace, and only signed one new o-lineman - ex-Titans guard Jacob Bell - during the subsequent free agency period. Inasmuch, it would be strange for a team that gave up 48 sacks a year ago to do anything other than pick Michigan tackle Jake Long at No. 2. The other...

Benji Olson will retire this afternoon. He had hinted at this at the end of the season. This means the Titans will lose both of their starting guards from last season's team with Jacob Bell signing with the St. Louis Rams earlier this offseason. The Titans have signed Jake Scott to replace one guy, and the other will be replaced by either Eugene Amano or LeRoy Harris. Olson has been a class act and...

Looks like guards are finally getting their due. Good for them. The Titans put singing a guard back in the headlines today with the news that they signed G Jake Scott , from Indy, to a 4 year deal. He replaces Jacob Bell, whom the Rams signed away to bolster their sagging interior line, as you know. An interesting article appeared in the NY Times this Sunday discussing the evolution of the interior...

I like the news that the Titans have agreed to terms with Jake Scott. He’s one of the guys I mentioned favorably in my offseason positional review of the guards. Scott should make a good replacement for Jacob Bell at left guard. It's also good to see the Colts lose another player, as Drexel noted in [...]

Today, we here at RAMblings have the distinct pleasure of welcoming Andrew Strickert to the site for a guest lecture, if you will. You may recognize Andrew’s name from Total Titans, the Titans site here on MVN. We began to address the Jacob Bell signing here yesterday, but to really break down one of the [...]

Free agency giveth and free agency taketh away. Hours after the official announcement that TE Alge Crumpler had joined the team, the Titans lost the services of three of their unrestricted free agents. Antwan Odom (Bengals) Travis LaBoy (Cardinals) and Jacob Bell (Rams) will all be playing in new uniforms next season.

This has already been a better offseason for the Rams. Last year's sex appeal signings that brought in big names like Drew Bennett and Dante Hall proved to be relatively anticlimactic particularly since the offense moved in fits and starts all season. I like the Jacob Bell signing, for reasons we've discussed ad nauseam since the o-line fell apart this season. That gives the Rams a young o-line, something...

It appears that Travis LaBoy has agreed to a deal with the Arizona Cardinals, and Jacob Bell has agreed to a deal with the St. Louis Rams. While it is tough to see all these guys leave, I don't think it is the end of the world. There is a hole at left end, especially when you consider that the only ends currently on the roster behind Kyle Vanden Bosch are Bryce Fisher (who is probably done), Sean Conover...

Filed under: Rams , NFC West , St. Louis If the Rams learned anything year it would be: employ many lineman (other pearls of wisdom -- "don't let Marc Bulger develop post-traumatic stress disorder," or, "make sure Steven Jackson doesn't require a body cast" are all branches of this tree). They tried, and whiffed, on Alan Faneca . But they did manage to snag up-and-coming young guard Jacob Bell from...
