Shortly after plopping himself down onto a blocking dummy lying on the practice field following a Detroit Lions training camp session, quarterback Jon Kitna is his usual amiable self — until, that is, the conversation with a visitor turns to the 2007 season.

Killer Kowalski’s latest WDFN interview is up at Mlive. Cliff notes version, Calvin Johnson is impressing the Hell out of him and Dan Orlovsky is clearly outplaying Drew Stanton in the competition to backup Jon Kitna: I’m not sure if I should be happy Orlovsky is finally stepping up, or be bitterly disappointed in Stanton, as [...]

One hundred fourteen sacks. A heck of a lot of hits. Two years of pounding took its toll on Lions quarterback Jon Kitna. "I thought a month after the season he still looked miserable," coach Rod Marinelli said. That's because he felt miserable.

Daunte Culpepper has contacted the Detroit Lions about a job. This after the former Viking reportedly turned down an offer to back-up Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay, saying he wanted to be a starter. So he thinks the Lions are looking to replace Jon Kitna? Sorry Daunte, but there are no starter [...]

1. Jon Kitna predicts 10 wins again For the second season in a row, quarterback Jon Kitna says the Lions will win 10 games. Last year Kitna appeared to be in good shape with his prediction after a 6-2 start, but the season fell apart with a 1-7 record in the second half. Most pundits don't think the Lions will come close to winning 10 games this season.

Jon Kitna has a 5.6 handicap at Meadowbrook Country Club in Northville. And that might be going down soon, because the pro in his group, Tom Pernice Jr., gave Kitna an impromptu lesson on the seventh hole after Kitna's tee shot leaked to the right.
