Tight end David Thomas goes deep while Tom Brady fakes a handoff to Laurence Maroney and fires a small child downfield. They're still working on a Hail Mary version of the play. Disclaimer: No small children were injured during the...

While the aerial acrobatics of Brady, Moss and Welker made it easy to forget that the Patriots had a rushing game, a lot of the blame for that has to go to Laurence Maroney. He had a bad season. Ow! Stop throwing things at me you damn Patriots homers! Yes, there are legitimate reasons for it. The NFL’s Greatest Passing Offense meant the Patriots didn’t need to run the ball much, and certainly didn’t...

To say the least, today was AMAZING and totally worth the wait. I took 5 jillion pictures, got sharpie marks all over my arm thanks to some overzealous dude behind me, practically got sweated on by Adalius Thomas and Laurence Maroney, came within one foot of true genius and spent $200 in the Pro Shop. FOXBOROUGH - Running back Laurence Maroney pronounced himself in the best shape he's ever been, but with Maroney's injury history and the fact backup Sammy Morris is coming off a sternum-clavicle separation, the Patriots aren't taking any chances. Yesterday, they signed veteran running back LaMont Jordan .

Filed under: Patriots , Raiders , AFC East You know, I was wondering when the Patriots would get around to finding Corey Dillon 's replacement. The answer, it seems, is "today." Via PFT , New England signed recent Raiders cast off LaMont Jordan , which, presumably, must make Laurence Maroney very happy. Early in Bill Belichick 's Patriots career, he'd sign Steelers rejects and they would magically...

Laurence Maroney gets all the attention. And why not? He's the "starter". Even though, in my humble opinion, starter is a term that has lost some, if not most, of its luster with many postions. It's more about snaps. How many has a player taken. The Patriots, like many smart teams, invest in players who fit the system vs. 1 or 2 stars, constantly relied on and playing a ridiculous number of snaps....

So yesterday, I posted my preview for quarterbacks. Interestingly, Patriots.com published their quarterbacks preview the next day. So in an effort to stay ahead of them, I’m posting my running backs preview a day early. Laurence Maroney It’s hard to make a great judgement of Maroney at this point in his career. He’s been inconsistent at times, [...]
