Lecharles Bentley, a former Pro Bowler at guard and center with the Saints, visited the Lions, but left without signing a contract: Bentley, who has been out of football for the past 2 seasons, thanks to destroying his knee not long after signing a free agent deal with the Browns, was in town earlier this week. Here's a thought. With questionable ability to take on the league's biggest defensive tackles from our starting center, and Dan Santucci being hurt, why not go after LeCharles Bentley? It's hard to believe that the free agent is demanding big coin after not signing thus far (unless he's waiting for someone to over-react to an injury and over-pay) and the biggest concern that teams may worry about...

Center LeCharles Bentley visited Detroit's training camp on Tuesday but didn't sign with the Lions. Bentley is a free agent after being released, at his request, by the Cleveland Browns. He's trying to resume his career after a series of surgeries for a knee injury and infections. Bentley signed a six-year, $36 million contract with the Browns in 2006 as a free agent but never played a game for the...

Center LeCharles Bentley visited the Lions on Tuesday, and the general consensus is that things went well. However, Bentley left Allen Park without signing a contract and didn't even take a physical. Tom Kowalski reported yesterday afternoon that the Lions were not interested in Bentley, but Pro Football Talk claims that there is no interest because Bentley didn't care for the deal he was offered....

The Lions appear to be in the market for some O-line help, as reports say that the team offered former Saints and Browns center LeCharles Bentley a one-year deal. ProFootballTalk.com is reporting that the Lions gave Bentley the offer, but he turned it down, as he’s still looking for a longer deal and a chance [...]

Last week, Molly @ Buckeye Commentary published an article discussing OSU’s NFL draft history. It was a well-researched piece, about 1300 words or so, and one that clearly took quite a bit of time and effort. She even included three paragraphs on LeCharles Bentley, for crying out loud. So I was confused when my feed reader showed [...]

With it being approximately 4:05 PM at the time of this posting, it seems as though none of the Browns suffered a LeCharles Bentley on the first play of camp for the second year in a row, thankfully. However, reports have come in from WTAM and the OBR stating that wide receiver Donte Stallworth would not be practicing today due to a hamstring injury. The injury did not occur during practice, but some...

It is hard to believe, but it appears that no less than seven teams are interested in the services of former Saints and Browns OL LeCharles Bentley, who asked for and got his release from the Browns two weeks ago. Bentley feels that he is healthy and can be a starter on a team this [...]

Filed under: Browns , AFC North There has been much gnashing of team among Browns fans about the whole LeCharles Bentley situation. The Browns signed him two offseasons ago, he promptly blew up his knee, and two years later, when he's finally healthy, Bentley asks -- and receives -- his release. It was all very confusing. The Cleveland Plain Dealer 's Terry Pluto does a wonderful job of recounting...

In a follow up after the OTAs, this report makes a few observations and suggestions. Among them that the Bears should consider looking at recently waived LeCharles Bentley to fill our left guard position. Bentley is a bit prima donna for my tastes, but if he is willing to accept a non-blockbuster contract I don't argue this. Also, the Bears apparently tried to pick up Tampa QB Bruce Gradkowski off...

Leave it to Cleveland Plain Dealer columnist Terry Pluto to provide another captivating editorial, this time regarding center LeCharles Bentley . If you're sick of hearing about Bentley, don't worry -- I can almost guarantee you'll enjoy reading this . I will highlight one of Pluto's points, which was brought up by a few of my readers several days ago: So fans wondered why the Browns didn't try to...

On Thursday, we talked about speculation that center LeCharles Bentley, recently released by Cleveland, could find himself in a Vikings uniform as a potential replacement for Matt Birk. Chilly was asked about these rumors, and as usual, he said absolutely nothing of any substance: Vikings coach Brad Childress, attending the team’s annual golf fundraiser Thursday [...]

Here’s your quick background on the Bentley. He was drafted in ‘02 and quickly became a Pro Bowl center with the Saints. By 2006, he was one of the top free agents on the market (Drew Brees was another), and the Browns signed him to a big deal. Given the Browns’ luck, [...]
