When WR Javon Walker bitched his way out of Green Bay, I loathed the dude with the same fandom scorn I still possess for Saints CB Mike McKenzie, who pulled a similar stunt. Walker had a monster pro bowl season in 04 and wanted a new contract. Unfortunately, he was blew out his knee early in 2005 against the Lions and without his deep ball play making ability, the Packers bottomed out to a 4-12 season....

The New Orleans Saints signed veteran cornerback Jerametrius Butler on Tuesday. The Saints needed an additional defensive back during minicamp because Mike McKenzie and Jason David , the starting cornerbacks in 2007, were limited by injuries during practice. McKenzie is recovering form reconstructive knee surgery at the end of last season while David had a strained groin. Butler, who is 5-foot-10,...

LEODIS MCKELVIN, CB, Troy Kiper: 16th (Arizona) McShay: 7th (New England) Banks: 16th (Arizona) Ball Coach: 11th (Buffalo) BEST CASE SCENARIO: McKelvin goes to the Saints at ten to create the McMen duo with Mike McKenzie on a rising defense. He immediately becomes a hero because he didn't refuse to play for New Orleans and gets a shoe deal. WORST [...]

Attention Troy Polamalu: NFL owners might play the role of your new stylist, as league execs will chew over a proposal that would ban players from having their flowing locks extend below their names on the back of their jerseys. Polamalu, along with Al Harris of Green Bay and Mike McKenzie of New Orleans, boast [...]

Saints CB Mike McKenzie totaled 52 tackles (45 solo) with three interceptions -- two returned for touchdowns -- and 17 passes defensed. It was enough to make him a top-50 Fantasy DB in 2007. However, McKenzie tore his ACL in Week 16 and will spend the offseason rehabbing his knee, a process that will cut his offseason camp schedule and likely keep him out of the opening of training camp (ACL rehab...

A well educated Saints fan recently tried to convince me that the Saints' front office personnel were poor evaluators of talent. He made several compelling points, including that the team missed completely on the 2007 draft and free agency. And he was right -- they certainly didn't derive any value from their draft or their large-money acquisitions (cough, Jason David) this year. He admitted that...

Filed under: Saints , NFC South , New Orleans Hearing the news that Saints' corner Mike McKenzie -- the fourth-ranked defensive back in success rate and seventh-ranked in yards per pass according to Football Outsiders -- tore his ACL last Sunday wasn't quite the Christmas gift I was hoping for. It's bad enough that there was such a drop in talent from McKenzie's side of the field to Jason David 's...

Hope everybody had a merry Christmas. I know I did. Let's jump right back in. As you've probably heard, Mike McKenzie is done for the year with a torn knee ligament . The question is not what the Saints do for the rest of this season, because the answer is clearly to start Usama Young. The question is what to do with McKenzie once next season starts. I have an idea. Raise your hand if you remember...

A fluke injury on a crazy play has ended Saints cornerback Mike McKenzie's season, making New Orleans' slim playoff hopes even slimmer. Saints coach Sean Payton said Monday that McKenzie tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee while nearly recovering Donovan McNabb's fumble in what turned out to be Philadelphia's first touchdown in the Eagles' 38-23 victory in New Orleans on Sunday.
