This isn't news to you folks, obviously, so I'm not going to go to much into detail here. I am curious though about your opinions on the decision. Here's the way I see it. Yes, Davenport is familiar with what we're trying to do on offense. Yes he was successful last year for the most part when called upon. And yes he was quite good in short yardage situations. I don't have the figures on me right...

Filed under: Bears , Saints , Texans The NFL season is finally here and there are still plenty of guys waiting for the phone to ring. Running back Shaun Alexander , 2005 NFL MVP, is probably the biggest name currently not on a roster, but there's also Travis Henry , Najeh Davenport , Tatum Bell , and Cedric Benson . But things are looking up for Ced, the Bears 2005 first-round pick who was never anything...

Filed under: Steelers , AFC North Last week, the Steelers released Najeh Davenport , a 245-pound running back who was signed to replace the ineffective Duce Staley in 2006. Staley was signed two years earlier to take over for the soon-to-be-retiring Jerome Bettis (he's from Detroit, you know). The common theme among the three backs? They were all big, plodding bruisers who could move the pile and...

Looks as if Najeh Davenport had dreams of heading to the desert, he’s going to have to change his mind. Davenport had said in an interview [...]

Najeh Davenport was recently on NFL radio and he named the Lions and Cardinals as two teams that he'd like to play for this season. Granted it doesn't matter how many times Davenport drops the Cardinals name during interviews....

Filed under: Lions , Steelers , AFC North , Detroit , Pittsburgh A day after they cut Najeh Davenport because of the team's glut of running backs, the Steelers had a scout at ex-Lions' running back Kevin Jones ' workout. There's something said for being thorough, as the Steelers now have another scouting report on Jones to stick into his file. But beyond that, I can't think of any logical explanation...
