Plenty of attention this offseason has been paid to the offensive line. And that's to be expected when your team makes the first overall pick of the draft an offensive tackle. Jake Long is certainly going to be the center of attention along that line. And then there's also new guard, Justin Smiley, who is expected to come in and start right away. Oh, and there's also a starting competition going on...

Filed under: Dolphins , AFC East Yesterday, Vernon Carey, the guy who's being replaced by first-round pick Jake Long , professed his love for the Dolphins' new left tackle . Today, another lineman, Justin Smiley, joins the hugfest . Smiley, who played the past two seasons in San Francisco with future Hall of Famer Larry Allen, doesn't think it'll be long before the rest of the NFL sees what he sees...

Filed under: Dolphins , AFC East There were some pre-draft concerns that Michigan left tackle Jake Long might never be a perennial Pro Bowler at the position in the NFL. Many draftniks declared him better suited for the right side. If only somebody had spoken up about Robert Gallery before the Raiders used the second-overall pick on a guy who now plays guard. The Dolphins seem unfazed by all the blathering,...

Filed under: Dolphins , AFC East If you were one of the hundreds of millions who missed the Dolphins-Bills tilt yesterday, just know this: Miami might've played their worst game of the season. And at 0-13, that's no easy task. The team had five turnovers, rookie quarterback John Beck was benched after just two pass attempts, and backup Cleo Lemon got knocked down on roughly every other play. By the...

The Palm Beach Post first reported that the Dolphins were without 7 starters at practice today. Those 7 are Jesse Chatman, Vernon Carey, Vonnie Holliday, Matt Roth, Keith Traylor, Joey Porter, and Channing Crowder. So now the question is, "why?" Now, Chatman (ankle) and Holliday (ankle) were on the post-game injury report. And the Sun-Sentinel reports that Roth (groin) and Traylor (ankle) were out...

I know it's kind of blown over, but the Sun-Sentinel reported the other day that Dolphins’ LT Vernon Carey said that they've had players from their scout team in Jets jerseys yelling out false signals in practice. Can't blame them for being prepared, I guess …

If Vernon Carey were more Dolphins fan than Dolphins offensive lineman he'd be worried. ''Yeah, when I was a Dolphins fan, I would be pushing the panic button,'' said the Dolphins left tackle who grew up in Miami. ``But since I'm here in the locker room and I know the character of the guys, we know there's no reason to panic. It's our first conference game, and this is the stuff that determines the...
