Cue up the AJC: Coach Mike Smith said Hutchins would be placed on injured reserve after the prognosis for his return was deemed to be four to six months. At some point during the season, you're likely to see Mike Smith fall to his knees like the star of a war movie and sob "They're just kids, man. They're just kids!" Now that Von is gone, the Falcons are going to war with easily the most inexperienced...

The first days of camp have brought us both delight and sorrow, if anything involving Todd Weiner and Von Hutchins can bring forth such emotion. As it is, a mixed line is getting back on of its most well-known veteran while one of the league's youngest cornerbacking corps may have just subtracted its eldest veteran. Let's start with Von , who has a foot sprain. I'm not a doctor, but I do know that...

From the unexpected division of our preschool-sized news desk comes Steve Wyche's report that Brent Grimes could start. I know it's too early to call any position battle, but Grimes moving into the starting lineup would be a huge upset. I figured Chevis Jackson, David Irons and Von Hutchins were all ahead of him on the depth chart. Wyche said that the coaching staff really seems like Grimes and his...

If this guy happens to read this blog, he's going to have to contend with me calling him Baron Von Hutchins for the duration of his contract. I urge you all to do the same, for we are true Americans. Unlike Erik Coleman, Hutchins shouldn't be asked to start unless Chris Houston is dead. It's more than a little frightening that we're getting Hutchins from the Texas. Lewis Sanders, as you'll recall,...

Soon after Von Hutchins stepped into Sunday's game for Jason Simmons, he made it clear he was going to do all he could not to let Simmons' knee injury be a setback for the team. Simmons, who tore his left patellar tendon and is out for the season, was a mentor to Hutchins throughout the offseason. Hutchins made it clear to everyone early that he had been paying attention.

A cornerback by trade in the NFL, Von Hutchins is getting a serious look from the Texans at free safety, and that's where he was playing Saturday when he intercepted a Rex Grossman pass late in the first quarter. Hutchins stepped in front of intended receiver Mark Bradley and made the pick at the Chicago 36, then returned it 20 yards before being run out of bounds at the 16.
