*On the feeling around Isleworth on Friday:"At first people were really panicked because you kept hearing the words 'serious condition.' We were very concerned. There were (television) helicopters flying around But after awhile, the feeling around the clubhouse was that it certainly is nothing life-threatening and that he's going to be fine. There's nothing official on that because a lot of stories...

Ten years is a long time to hold a grudge. I was thirty three years old, awaiting the arrival of the completion of thirty four, when Payne Stewart’s plane rose then fell. I recall scanning the list of casualties, sorry that I could not recognize the names of the pilots, the agents, the course designer. In those infant days of the internet, when a single phone line was split 3 to 5 ways, we clung...

I was listening to ESPN Radio on my way back from the grocer today and caught a wee bit of Jason Sobel and his opinion on Lucas Glover. It seems that Glover had made a bit of a move (he is currently -2 for the day and tied for second place.) Sobel was of the opinion that the US Open win in June had suddenly placed Glover in an elite class. I agree, but not the one Sobel selected. Shaun Micheel, Paul...

(Associated Press) Steve Stricker has vaulted into second place at the John Deere Classic, tying a course record and matching the lowest score of his career with a 10-under 61 on Saturday that left him three strokes behind Darron Stiles through two rounds. Stiles (65), the first-round co-leader with Lee Janzen, remained on top at 13-under 129. Stricker, however, stole the show on a sunny day at TPC...

I'm putting both of these together because I had a similar experience while watching them today. I started off watching the John Deere Classic. But unfortunately, the local weathermen thought they were so important that they kept interrupting the coverage with weather bulletins for counties far, far away in another state. News flash for the weathermen: the people in those counties probably lost electricity...

SILVIS, Ill., July 10 (UPI) -- Persistent thunderstorms forced a postponement of the second round of the John Deere Classic Friday without a single shot being hit. Tournament officials said they hoped to play the second round Saturday and then have the survivors of the 36-hole cut play both the third and fourth rounds Sunday. No rain is in the forecast for Saturday, but a chance of showers returns...

The second round of the John Deere Classic has been postponed due to heavy rain and is now scheduled for Saturday. Scheduled to start at 7 a.m. on Friday, tournament officials were hoping to begin play at 4 p.m. after several delays. They called the round off entirely about 20 minutes before the first groups were scheduled to tee off. Two-time U.S. Open champion Lee Janzen and Darron Stiles are tied...

SILVIS, Ill., July 9 (UPI) -- Lee Janzen, winless since the second of his two U.S. Open titles 11 years ago, claimed a share of the first-round lead Thursday at the John Deere Classic. Darron Stiles, playing in the last group on the course, birdied the 18th to tie Janzen for the lead. Janzen, who will turn 45 next month, shot a 7-under 64 at the TPC-Deere Run course despite suffering a bogey on the...

Lee Janzen stirred some memories and was tied with Darron Stiles for the lead after firing a 7-under 64 in the first round of the John Deere Classic on Thursday. Janzen has not won on the PGA Tour since he captured his second U.S. Open in 1998, yet he's in position after an impressive start at TPC Deere Run. The 44-year-old was at 8 under after birdies on the 16th and 17th holes and played bogey-free...
