Charlie Holland of Dallas took out the medalist from the stroke play portion of the tournament Thursday with a 1-up victory at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa. The 16 players who advanced from Thursday's early round headed back onto the course in the afternoon as the field was cut in half again for the quarterfinals.
