WILKES-BARRE – Chris Minard snapped a 1-1 tie in the second period last night to send the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 3-1 victory at the Wachovia Arena and eliminate the Phantoms from the AHL's Calder Cup playoffs.

Beech out indefinitely with broken wrist

Pittsburgh Penguins center Kris Beech was placed on injured reserve Friday with a broken right wrist and will be out indefinitely. To fill Beech's spot on the roster, the Penguins recalled forwards Connor James and Chris Minard from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League. Penguins reassign Minard, Brent, Stone

The Pens reassigned Chris Minard, Tim Brent and Ryan Stone back to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton today. Jonathan Filewich, who was assigned to the Penguins along with Minard and Brent on Jan. 7th, remains with the team. I’d say that Filewich had looked the best of the three, nearly getting his 1st NHL goal on a couple of occasions.
