CHICAGO (AP) _ The Chicago Blackhawks has signed center Colin Fraser and defensemen Aaron Johnson and Doug Janik to one-year contracts. Fraser appeared in five games with the Blackhawks last season. The 23-year-old also had 17 goals and 41 points in 75 games with the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL.

In 18 years of mowing other people's lawns, Colin Fraser thought he had seen it all. Thursday he learned otherwise. Fraser, 52, was mowing a yard when a blood feud between Lee Macon and his neighbor, Jerome Jackson, turned violent. When the gun smoke cleared, Jackson was dead and Macon, whose lawn Fraser had been cutting, was in custody. He is in the Broward County jail charged with murder.

via the Chicago Blackhawks, Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that center Jacob Dowell has been placed on the injured list because of a broken foot. Dowell will be out of the lineup for two-to-four weeks. Center Colin Fraser has been recalled from the Blackhawks American Hockey League affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs.
