It would look like Mark Hartigan’s got himself a cozy new home. As posted at LGW, Latvia appears to be the destination.

Bruce MacLeod reports that Johan Franzen participated for a few shifts in the 5-on-5 battle drill with the second line (Valtteri Filppula and Dan Cleary) after starting practice with “spare parts” Aaron Downey and Mark Hartigan. He was held out of contact drills. As MacLeod notes, the fact that he took part in the 5-on-5 drills [...]

Four games too late in my opinion, but Mark Hartigan finally finds a seat tonite. Abbadabbadoobiedoo? No. Darren Helm. Khan(!) Update from Friday’s morning skate: Rookie Darren Helm will make his playoff debut debut in Game 5 vs. Nashville, replacing Mark Hartigan. The fast-skating Helm will center the fourth line with Darren McCarty and Dallas Drake. “Really excited and nervous at the same time,’’...

Dallas Drake, Mark Hartigan and Darren McCarty have maximized their few minutes of ice time, with McCarty coming up with a good scoring chance Monday and pairing with Hartigan on another play to knock the puck off superpest Jordin Tootoo. Drake was a force on the penalty kill and continually tried to stir things up.

It appears the top two lines will be Henrik Zetterberg with Pavel Datsyuk and Tomas Holmstrom, and Johan Franzen with Valtteri Filppula and Dan Cleary. Kris Draper spent Tuesday with Jiri Hudler and Justin Abdelkader. Dallas Drake, Mark Hartigan and Aaron Downey formed the fourth line, with Darren McCarty taking turns. Asked about McCarty, coach Mike Babcock said, "He seems to have gotten himself in...

A makeshift lineup gave the Red Wings one last dominating victory to close out the regular season on Sunday. Nicklas Lidstrom scored twice to reach double digits in goals for the fifth straight season, Jiri Hudler added a goal and an assist, and Mark Hartigan scored as the Wings beat the Chicago Blackhawks, 4-1, at Joe Louis Arena.

Mark Hartigan's been recalled on an “emergency basis.” No word yet as to who isn't ready (Zetterberg or Holmstrom). Diggers aren't on this one yet, but will be soon...I’m assuming. ----- Good point from Nathan below: If Hartigan's been recalled, it could very well mean neither player is ready.

Bruce MacLeod reports that the Mark Hartigan is has been sent back to Grand Rapids. It seems unlikely the team would send him back to the AHL if they were just going to bring him back up on Wednesday, especially considering they're on the road. So, as MacLeod suggests, this must mean either Henrik Zetterberg’s back [...]

Back spasms, according to Anti-digger Bruce MacLeod. The biggest news from Saturday's morning skate is that Henrik Zetterberg won't play tonight because of back spasms. With Tomas Holmstrom back in Detroit with a bone bruise in his right knee, Mark Hartigan has been called up to give the Red Wings 12 forwards. Hartigan wasn't at the morning skate. Zetterberg will rest his back over the Christmas break...

via the Detroit Free Press, Red Wings forward Tomas Holmstrom missed practice today because of a sore knee, and said he doesn't think he’ll be able to play tomorrow when the Wings host the Oilers. Mike Babcock said Mark Hartigan would be called up from Grand Rapids. Babcock didn't know what line combinations he would use, but Mikael Samuelsson skated with Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg today.

Kirk Maltby didn't skate again today, or at least didn't practice due to a sore shoulder. Anti-digger Bruce MacLeod reports that the Wings have reached down to Grand Rapids. Mark Hartigan is on the ice for this morning’s skate, being called up from Grand Rapids yesterday. Hartigan flew in from Toronto (the Griffins played the Marlies yesterday afternoon) this morning. Kirk Maltby (shoulder) didn't...
