The Chicago Blackhawks signed Pascal Pelletier to a one-year contract Friday. The 25-year-old center came to the Blackhawks from the Boston Bruins in a July 24 trade for center Martin St. Pierre. Pelletier played in six games last season with Boston. He scored 71 goals in 206 regular-season games with Providence of the AHL between 2005-08.

Pascal Pelletier was never drafted by an NHL team. The NHL was in lockdown when he turned pro in 2004-05, a season in which he played for Louisiana and Gwinnett of the East Coast Hockey League. He signed as a free agent with the Bruins July 28, 2006, but had never been called up to the big club.
