PHILADELPHIA (AP) -The Philadelphia Flyers agreed to multiyear deals with defenseman Randy Jones and forward Riley Cote on Wednesday, keeping two key players who helped them reach the Eastern Conference finals.

From the Philadelphia Flyers: Flyers G.M. Paul Holmgren revealed on Tuesday evening that the club has agreed to a two-year contract extension with restricted free agent defenseman Randy Jones, and a three year deal with restricted free agent Riley Cote. Note: Paul posted the Randy Jones signing earlier today, but the Riley Cote deal was only just added to that same Flyers’ story. Terms not yet available....

The Flyers are about $7 million under the cap and are trying to sign Jeff Carter, Randy Jones, and Riley Cote. If Carter really does sign for $5 million per, that leaves them with $2 million for the rest of the team. Sure, they would love to lose Hatcher’s salary as pointed out [...]

There were a few tweaks in the Flyers lineup heading into tonight's series opener against the Washington Capitals. Based on the look of the final practice yesterday, it appears Sami Kapanen is out of the lineup and R.J. Umberger will play on the fourth line with Riley Cote and Jim Dowd.
