He’ll be joining the Capitals for their Saturday night date with the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre. Andrew has a penchant for being called up for big stages — his first NHL game, [...]

"Hershey Corner," as Jay Beagle affectionately dubbed it, is the fastest-growing community in the Washington Capitals' dressing room. John Carlson, a 2008 first-round pick and one of the organization's prized prospects, joined the Caps on Thursday and is likely to make his NHL debut Friday against the Montreal Canadiens. Carlson's stall at Kettler Capitals Iceplex is next to Mathieu Perreault's,...

The Capitals expect Theodore to be away only for one day. Washington also recalled center Jay Beagle from Hershey.
This past weekend marked a broadcast first for hockey in Washington: the execution of virtual real-time audio swaps between Federal News Radio 1500, the local radio carrier of the Caps, and John Walton’s calls of the Hershey Bears, which Washington hockey fans can hear on SportsJuice.com. On Friday night, while the Bears were beating Norfolk [...]

The Hershey Bears boarded their team bus at Giant Center on Tuesday morning and departed for Lowell, Mass. In terms of time away from the Hershey community, this week’s slate of games in New England represents the team’s longest road trip of the season. There is an incredible offensive performance underway in the AHL. Alexandre Giroux of the Hershey Bears (the Washington Capitals affiliate) is tied for the league lead in scoring with 17 points. He is tied with Corey Locke of the Hartford Wolf Pack (the New York Rangers affiliate). Giroux’s performance so far is impressive because he has done it in only eight games played. He has scored more...

The Rangers can't get Marian Gaborik back soon enough, but they have to be wondering where they can get him back soon at all. On a day Gaborik tested his injured right leg in the morning and said it just didn't feel right, the Rangers put on an attack that took you back to 2008-09, barely getting a sniff over the first 40 minutes (save for Dane Byers, the Hartford call-up of the night and the latest...
There are plenty of what-ifs and unforeseen twists in any hockey coach's life. Considering the odyssey Bruce Boudreau traveled to reach the Washington Capitals, he probably had more than most. Still, it is crazy to think there was an afternoon in the summer of 2005 when fate (or, more specifically, Anaheim general manger Brian Burke) could have intervened and Boudreau might never have coached the Hershey...
