Pavlyuchenko set for Spurs exit

By CHRIS THOMPSON Roman Pavlyuchenko’s career at Spurs looks set to come to an end in the January transfer window, after the striker this week gave a very frank interview in a Russia’s Sport Express newspaper. Pavlyuchenko’s main reason for wanting out is the lack of first team opportunities being presented, which has begun to [...]

On the Attack

I suspect I'm about five years too young to really enjoy The Memories Attack . After all, their most recent album, LP2 , is heavily drenched in a giant dose of early '90s nostalgia (or, as others have put it , it's an album "fuelled by the sounds that defined grunge and indie rock back in the day")...which, really, doesn't do a whole lot for me, given that I wasn't quite in high school when...

Gomes the hero as Spurs see off Black Cats

by CHRIS THOMPSON Heroic Heurelho Gomes was the saviour of White Hart Lane yesterday in Spurs 2-0 win over Sunderland. After already making several excellent saves during the first half, Gomes looked like he had undone all that good work when he bundled over Darren bent (who else?!) to concede a second half penalty. However Gomes [...]

Spurs aim to bounce back against Sunderland

By CHRIS THOMPSON Last weekend’s disaster now thankfully sits slightly easier in the minds of most Spurs fans and getting back on track with a win over high flying Sunderland this weekend would be the perfect way to sweep those memories under the ever growing mental carpet inside all of our minds when it comes [...]

Where it all went wrong against Aersenal…

By CHRIS THOMPSON So where did it all go wrong for Spurs last Saturday at the Emirates Stadium? 42 minutes on the clock, an unspectacular half time analysis loomed for pundits everywhere. Tottenham had managed to contain Arsenal and even created a few half chances of note themselves. Then in the space of 11 seconds, the [...]

Spurs optimistic ahead of Arsenal clash

By CHRIS THOMPSON It’s the big one for Spurs this weekend, with the early Saturday kick-off against North London rivals Arsenal at the Emirates, and as Harry Redknapp often says, what a difference a year makes. Nobody will ever forget perhaps the game of the season last time these two teams met on Arsenal’s terms. This [...]

Spurs aim to bounce back against Everton

By CHRIS THOMPSON Tottenham look to bounce straight back from Saturday’s disappointment against Stoke with a Carling Cup tie against Everton. Seen by many as the perfect way to get the season back on track, Harry Redknapp must also ensure the result does not add to the team’s misery, with the all important North London [...]

Spurs v Stoke – Match Report

By Chris Thompson – It was one of those days for Spurs as they were left to rue missed opportunities when Stoke stole the point late on at White Hart Lane. Tottenham were forced to play the last 15 minutes with ten men when Aaron Lennon was forced off with a nasty looking ankle injury [...]

Defoe missing as Spurs take on Stoke

By CHRIS THOMPSON Tottenham fans who last season made the journey to Stoke will no doubt have many bad memories of the trip. Not only were Spurs bottom of the table with 2 points, but they lost the game 2-1, having two men sent off in the process. Manager Juande Ramos made a speedy exit [...]

Travel Diary 8

Today I went with Matt and Cathy Silberstein to Chris Thompson’s place on the Rockaway Beach, in howling gales and breath condensing weather (in other words, just like home), in Paul and Gail Gans’ car. Where we met John Pieret, mein host, Mitch Coffey and other talk.origins netizens whose names I have conventionally forgotten, being [...]

Ten-man Spurs see off Pompey

By CHRIS THOMPSON Tottenham managed to hold on with 10 men for over half an hour to secure a 2-1 victory over Portsmouth, as Jermain Defoe saw red against his old club. Tempers regularly flared up at Fratton Park as Michael Brown also saw red in the dying seconds for a second bookable offence. It was [...]

Harry squad boost ahead of Pompey trip

by CHRIS THOMPSON Harry Redknapp could have a full complement of strikers to choose from for the trip to Portsmouth. Jermain Defoe is in line for a recall against his former club, after recovering from the broken fingers that kept him out of the England squad in midweek. Roman Pavlyuchenko could also feature in the [...]
