Devils, without injured players Neil Francis, Lee Cowmeadow, Marc Fulton and Derek Campbell went ahead after 93 seconds but the Giants hit back with three goals during the first period including two powerplay strikes by Colin Shields and one from Mike Burgoyne. Devils' frustrating evening was completed when Paul Deniset scored an unassisted empty net goal on 59:53.
