Defenseman Cory Murphy was back in the Florida lineup for the first time since severely bruising his shoulder Nov. 13 against Atlanta. Murphy, the quarterback of the power play, missed 30 games with the injury. Florida players have now missed 214 games because of injuries, with seven players on the injured list.

Murphy's absence from the Panthers' roster the past 17 games has not been performance-related. Rather, Murphy, a 5-10 defenseman, has been confounded by a shoulder injury that has left him confused and frustrated.
