The results of this year's Locality Fund consultation

As in previous years there was a Locality Fund of £10,000 to be spent in Lee Green Ward in 2009, and like previous years we were oversubscribed with applications. Consultation on how to spend this money was extensive and carried out through the Local Assembly, by email, posters, notices on the ward's community notice boards, Twitter, blogs, webpages and word of mouth. The results of this consultation...

By-election Breakdown

The spinners are out in full force when it comes to today's by-elections . The Cons are presenting a laughably skewed take in order to try to claim some momentous victory if they can eke out a win in territory which has voted for actual or expelled Cons all but once in the past 40 years; the Libs are understandably pointing out that the ridings aren't friendly terrain in order to justify a set of third-place...

What's a neighbourhood?

Way back in 1997/98 the Government was all about neighbourhoods. That was how our cities were going to be transformed, by small groups of people coming together and improving their local areas. Sure Start was based on neighbourhoods, and the fledgling Neighbourhood Statistics Service was set up by the Office for National Statistics. Then someone realised that to come up with statistics for areas, they...

Last Meal: Cheeseburger, cheeseburger, cheeseburger ...

Your last breath is only a few hours away. The governor isn't going to call. People are gathering outside to cheer your death. The Death Row chaplain has run out of prayers. The clock is ticking like a time bomb. You have one final decision before your life is over: what will you eat for your last meal ? Porterhouse steak? Beef Wellington? French nouvelle? In Texas, where we keep painfully detailed...

But it has been a rather good year, having been included in Total Politics'...
