Islanders Sign Comeau

The New York Islanders announced Monday that they have agreed to terms with forward, Blake Comeau to a two-year contract. Comeau was originally selected by the Islanders at the 2004 National Hockey League Entry Draft in the second round (47th overall). After starting last season with the organization’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Comeau returned to the Islanders,...

Comrie, Comeau, Okposo line bolsters Isles offense

In seven games since the Islanders returned from Christmas break, it's as thought the red light has come on for rookie forward Kyle Okposo and second-year winger Blake Comeau. All of Comeau's season total of six points and eight of Okposo's 12 have come in that stretch, and they have combined with center Mike Comrie to produce nine of the Isles' 24 goals and provide an offensive boost.

NHL: Edmonton 3, N.Y. Islanders 2

EDMONTON, Alberta, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Andrew Cogliano had the game-winning goal and the Edmonton Oilers erased a 2-0 lead with three unanswered goals Monday night to beat the New York Islanders 3-2. Comeau hitting his stride for Islanders

The Blake Comeau who buzzed around the net as well as any Islanders forward in a 5-1 loss to Atlanta Saturday night at Nassau Coliseum bore no resemblance to the Blake Comeau coach Scott Gordon saw in training camp. This energetic Comeau, who had three shots on goal, two near-misses (including one that rang off a post) and three solid hits in only 11:04 of ice time, looked like a player Gordon can...

Blog: Blake Comeau returns tonight for Isles

Gordon hasn't yet addressed the lineup change, so, I'm just guessing what slot Comeau will fill. But with Mike Sillinger back in the lineup at center and the need for his faceoff abilities, I wouldn't be surprised if Silly takes over as third-line center with Jon Sim at left wing and Richard Park moving to right wing. That would be a two-way line you could play against an opponent's top line and also...

Gordon: Comeau must improve conditioning

It was a surprise last season when forward Blake Comeau was called up from Bridgeport after doing little to earn a promotion, but he impressed early and became the one young player former coach Ted Nolan trusted. But new coach Scott Gordon said last night that to crack the lineup, Comeau must improve his conditioning and become more accountable.

Islanders' young players making most of chances

If the Islanders can look past the final score, many of the numbers in recent boxscores likely will add up to a better team when training camp opens in September. For instance, rookies Blake Comeau and Frans Nielsen had two of the Isles' three goals in their 4-3 shootout loss to Philadelphia on Saturday night at Nassau Coliseum , and rookie Kyle Okposo recorded his third assist and fourth point in...

Last Night's Action: A Big Win For The Islanders

Islanders 4 Rangers 3 (Shootout) : This was not a game for fans of goaltenders. Henrik Lundqvist was terrible, Wade Dubielewicz was too but better when it counted and the Islanders prevailed in a sloppy game. Blake Comeau got things started when he scored by throwing the puck off of Michal Rozsival to put the Islanders in front. The Rangers tied things up when Nigel Dawes scored on the power play,...
