The Positives Of Our Big Guys Getting Injured

When I was a teenager I read a book by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale called “The Power of Positive Thinking.” I didn’t do me one bit of good. I continued to think that my pimples were never going away and I wouldn’t be getting laid any time soon. However, I believe there’s some positives regarding the Habs and their injuries. A Full Moon over the NHL?

From friend of the blog Jim Cerny at Rink Rap: I am not sure if it’s a black cloud or a full moon, but there’s something wreaking havoc on the National Hockey League so far this season. As discussed here before, the amount of injuries to star players is off the charts. Plus there have been a string of strange incidents that add to the question: what the heck is going on here? Two more stories...

Their Left Foot

from Sean Gordon of the Globe and Mail, We take great pride in knowing our beloved city and province inside and out, but it doesn’t mean we aren’t surprised by new things from time to time. For instance: we had no idea Montreal was a really dangerous place to be a left foot. Just ask Brian Gionta’s podiatrist. Or Hal Gill’s, or Andrei Markov’s (or short-track speed skater...

Fantasy Hockey Notes 11/19/2009

- If you're holding onto Jean-Sebastien Giguere thinking he's going to get traded to the Detroit Red Wings, think again. There are a lot of rumors floating around about Giggy getting dealt to Detroit, but unless Brian Rafalski is part of that deal, its simply not possible due to the salary cap. Detroit's front office has also come out and said that they are not interested in Giguere and are happy...

Pretenders

Holy cow, if in the minds of Montreal fans the Leafs suck, what does that say about the Habs? There's a big difference between the Habs and Leafs right now, and that's direction. The Leafs are headed in the right direction, while the Habs are blowin' their load early in the season with a one dimensional team that will definitely run out of gas, guts and goals by mid-season. Mark my words people, the...

Canadiens at Penguins - First Period - 10-28-09

FIRST PERIOD 19:13: Roman Hamrlik air-mails a slapper from the neutral zone on the Penguins' net. Fleury steers is away. 19:10: Bourque takes the ice along with Malkin and Fedotenko. 17:35: Jordan Staal coasts down the right wing and backhands a pass into the slot. Matt Cooke is there but can't get a clean shot off. Craig Adams has taken Kennedy's place on the third line. We guess Dupuis is stuck...

On lineups, Lisin, et les Alouettes

Forget about Marc Staal and Dan Girardi being split up, at least for the start of this game - John Tortorella had been contemplating the change and had them apart in practice yesterday, but he'll begin tonight's game here in Montreal status quo on the blue line, and that duo can expect to see time against the Canadiens' Mike Cammalleri-Scott Gomez-Brian Gionta line. Donald Brashear will be the scratch...
