(Bruce Bennett/Getty Images) Matt Bradley got into a fight that left him with a gash over his left eye in the first period, then scored the go-ahead goal in the Caps' 4-2 win over the Rangers last night at Madison Square Garden. Oh yeah, and Alex Ovechkin returned: Ovechkin also tallied on Tuesday in his anticipated return from a six-game absence with an injury, but it was Bradley's clutch, Ovechkin-like...

Well, at least it was short work. The game lasted barely two hours. If you’re going to end a winning streak, best to leave no doubt. And after the first five minutes or so of tonight’s game between the Capitals and the New Jersey Devils, the home team left no doubt as to which team is the class of the Eastern Conference at the moment. The Devils spotted the Caps a 2-0 lead in the first...

Mike Green scored a goal to lead the Caps to their fourth straight win last night. Photo by choofly . Friday's highlights belonged to the Caps' defense. In a 3-1 win over the Minnesota Wild, Washington's defensemen were responsible for the majority of goals scored, while Semyon Varlamov again turned in a strong performance between the pipes. Despite the Wild having the best penalty kill percentage...

Goals by a pair of defensemen for the first time this season helped the Washington Capitals survive a valiant effort from Minnesota goaltender Josh Harding and secure a 3-1 victory Friday night against the Wild at Verizon Center. Brian Pothier gave the Caps the lead two minutes into the third period. He took a drop pass from Mathieu Perreault and snapped a shot into the top-right corner for his second...

Not quite boring, not quite exciting... Onto the Battle Damage Assessment... THE GOOD: No shots on goal for the Caps in the first seven minutes as they didn't get the "chase" part of the "dump and chase" style going. But 41 shots on goal over the last 53 minutes was impressive to us even though there are still those who think they didn't shoot enough. We have a Brian Pothier sighting!...

It was an odd night at Verizon Ce-- down, boy. At Verizon Center as the Capi—DOWN boy. As the Capitals roared from behind in the – DOWN! Seems Kanoobie is excited over what transpired at Verizon Center this evening as the Caps roared back from a 3-2 deficit to open the third period, outscoring the Florida Panthers 5-1 in the final 20 minutes to skate off with a 7-4 win that was not kind...

Wishes do come true. And that is not always a good thing. One wish coming true that falls on the good side is that the Capitals beat the Florida Panthers last night, 4-1, in the front end of a weekend back-to-back to end a three-game winless streak. The wishes Caps fans might have to see Hershey defensemen Karl Alzner and/or John Carlson in the lineup could come true at the price of the loss of Mike...

SUNRISE, Fla. | Playing without Alex Ovechkin is one thing, but the Washington Capitals were losing a player a period Friday night. Thanks to a three-point night from Brian Pothier, 28 saves by Jose Theodore and some excellent late work on the penalty kill, the short-handed Caps ended a three-game skid with a 4-1 victory against the Florida Panthers at BankAtlantic Center. "You can't replace Alex...

Never a dull moment... Onto the Battle Damage Assessment... THE GOOD: "The Life of" Brian Pothier with a goal and two assists tonight. We need him to get in to a better groove with the injuries starting to mount. Brendan Morrrissonn with two goals including the all-important empty-netter. It would have counted regardless because he was fouled as he went into score the goal and the referee...
