NHL: Anaheim 4, Ottawa 3

OTTAWA, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Ryan Getzlaf's second-period goal was the game-winner Friday when the Anaheim Ducks survived a late rally by the Ottawa Senators to win 4-3. Brian Sutherby, Todd Marchant and Samuel Pahlsson also scored for the Ducks, who were making their first trip to Ottawa since Game 4 of the 2007 Stanley Cup finals. Daniel Alfredsson, Alexandre Picard and Chris Neil scored for the Senators,...

Clark Dealing With Groin Issue

from Corey Masisak of the Washington Times, Once the Caps’ season ended, Clark gave up on his short-term rehab plan and started a summer-long one. Every third week he traveled from his New York home to Vancouver to visit groin specialist Rick Celebrini, who helped former Caps forward Brian Sutherby a few years ago. He began a process that involved lots of stretching and working out with elastic bands....

Meanwhile On The West Coast

Centerman Brian Sutherby will stay a duck. At least for another year for $700,000. Sutherby, a fan favorite here in DC will get another year in Anaheim to make some noise. Sutherby did play in 5 games in the playoffs for the Ducks but didn't score.

LAst Night's Action: Ducks Get Roasted

Dallas Stars defeat Anaheim Ducks 3-1 . The Ducks continued to be outplayed by the Stars as goalie Marty Turco came within seven seconds of shutting out the Ducks. Duck's center Brian Sutherby, who had scored only one goal early on in the season, thought he had tied the game in the second period but was called off after a video review for kicking the puck in the net. Down three games to one, the Ducks...

Sutherby Is A Duck

I had a chance last night to catch the Anaheim/LA game, otherwise known as the Freeway Faceoff. It was the third game Brian Sutherby had started for the Ducks and he never looked better. Last night even though he didn't get on the score sheet, his line looked very dominant. He settled on a line that included Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. It seems Sutherby looks right at home in black, gold

Caps Briefing: The Rebuild is Overblown

Since trading away team leader and expert benchwarmer Brian Sutherby to save money and cure a losing streak, the Caps have chalked up two more uninspired losses to teams from subtropical climatic zones. Last night's nominal crowd at Verizon Center cheered optimistically when the Caps lobbed soft shots from the blueline into the catching glove of Atlanta's third-string goalie, Johan Hedberg. They cheered...

Ducks Tuesday Practice Update

The Ducks practiced at Anaheim Ice on Tuesday before heading on their charter flight to Dallas this afternoon. The new guy, Brian Sutherby, was introduced to his teammates and likely linemates. He was skating on a line with George Parros and Brad May. He has passed his physical with the Ducks, so Ryan Carter is [...]

Plank Notes: Carter Back, Callahan Out and More

Despite the Pirates losing a tough game at home to the Wolf Pack on Sunday, they had a strong run, grabbing five out of the possible eight points over the the last week. (I’ll have more on that later) The Ducks were busy yesterday as they completed a trade for former Pirate Brian Sutherby from the Washington [...]

Not Near Enough - Bye Suts

Capitals 3, Panthers 4 Scoresheet - Wash Post The afternoon started with some news, Brian Sutherby was traded to Anaheim for some draft pick (that is all we seem able to get anymore). I am a bit confounded by this trade because it doesn't help the team now. It's a draft pick, and I thought the rebuild was over. Already this night was getting off on a bad foot. Next the Capitals start a home

Caps Trade Sutherby

As you've no doubt heard by now, the Caps have sent center Brian Sutherby westward, trading him to the Ducks for a second round pick in 2009. You'll recall that the Caps resigned Suts, a former first-round pick, to a 1-year, $800,000 deal this past summer, meaning that, in essence, they bought a second round pick in '09 for just under $200,000.
