Isles' defenseman Campoli close to return

It was exactly a month ago today that the Islanders' Chris Campoli was rammed ferociously into the boards by Boston's Michael Ryder, leaving the defenseman with his second shoulder injury in an eight-month span. The first one, Jan. 16, resulted in shoulder surgery and cost him the final 36 games of the season.

Injuries force Isles to grab defenseman Pock

The injury bug that tore through the Islanders to ruin the second half of last season has raised its ugly head again. Top-six defensemen Andy Sutton and Chris Campoli likely will miss the Oct. 10 season opener and be out a few weeks beyond, which is why the club yesterday claimed former Rangers defenseman Thomas Pock on waivers.

Isles' penalty killers were key to Caps win

If you had to pick three stars from the Islanders' 5-2 win Thursday night in Washington, there would be no shortage of candidates. Start with Bill Guerin's hat trick, and consider Bryan Berard's game-winning goal and two assists, goaltender Rick DiPietro's stellar play and defenseman Chris Campoli's four assists. Tough choice.
