The Thrashers claimed defenseman Christoph Schubert off re-entry waivers from Ottawa Friday. To make room for Schubert, the Thrashers placed forward Colby Armstrong on injured reserve. Armstrong injured his groin in a exhibition game last month.Schubert, 27, played in 50 games for the Senators last season with six points (three goals, three assists). During the [...]

With yesterday's demotion of Brian Lee and Christoph Schubert the Senators roster is now set for the time being. Word is Bryan Murray is still exploring trade possibilities for defenceman Alex Picard but he certainly doesn't just want to give him away. If Murray gets the right deal, Picard could be on the move. But for now, here is a look at the 2009/2010 Ottawa Senators. Michalek - Spezza - Alfredsson...

The New York Islanders have claimed forward Rob Schremp off waivers from the Edmonton Oilers. I am really happy about this move, as no player needed a change of scenery more than this kid, as I really feel he's NHL ready. Put this kid with JT and he'll score 40-50 points this year. Christoph Schubert is still in the waiver process, I expect someone to claim him. You can never have enough defensemen....

We've all read the papers, seen the features and heard the talk; Bryan Murray is looking to move a veteran out before the season starts. Allow me to weigh in on this situation... The most obvious choice is Christoph Schubert. We all know there's no market for the guy right now but I wouldn't be surprised to see Ottawa put him through the waiver wire before the season starts. It has been suggested to...

Things have been pretty quiet since the Heatley mess wrapped up but there are a few rumours that are still coming in. Had a chance to speak with a couple different contacts this morning and here are some of the rumours. Obviously, Bryan Murray is looking at moving out a veteran or two to make room for the youngsters. Moving veteran contracts is extremely difficult at this time of year with so many...

from Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun, Senators GM Bryan Murray is selling. This week he’s going hunting for buyers ... for a player or two. Murray said today he’s going to start working the phones to try and move a couple of players he feels are underperforming this fall. In part, his motivation is to open up a spot for centre Peter Regin, who is having a strong training camp. Another...

Just a quick morning update. As mentioned yesterday, the Senators may be looking to move out a body or two before the season get started as they would like to open up a spot for one of the young guys. It should come as no surprise but the two prime candidates to be shipped out are Christoph Schubert and Shean Donovan. I wouldn't expect a return of much more than a draft pick if Murray can find a taker...

Not a whole lot going on today so far. With the Olympic Orientation camp set to begin next Monday, word is the Team Canada brass has asked Heatley to speak before attending camp . The media will be all over Dany regardless but it certainly would help matters if he made a statement before hand. Theres always a chance Murray finds a way to deal him before then but if not, prepare for one heck of a media...

I took some flak this morning for having the gall to mention Dany Heatley in the same breath as Zdeno Chara. We all know that fans and most media think Heatley’s demand to be traded is obnoxious. The guy made 14 million dollars last season. To play hockey. Think about that. If your salary is a healthy 140,000 dollars, it would take you 100 years to earn what Heatley did last season. My argument...
