A man who has already been convicted of murder pled guilty to another murder this week the 1996 slaying of Wally Lundin . The case brought attention to murders of gay men in Minneapolis. There is a mention of Dallas Drake's Center for Homicide Research which began it's work as the "Gay Homicide Study" in 1999 with the first attempt to look at homicide in the gay community.

We've all seen them by now; little kids walking around with player-related names that make you ask the parents, "Is that like...?" To which they immediately cut you off with, "Yes, like the Blues player." Some we like. Barret, for instance, is solid, and will remain so. Kids named Dallas or Drake always make us smile. We haven't met a Barclay yet, but that kid would immediately...

The Penguins and numerous other teams have shipped their prospects too exotic locales such as Kitchener, Ont. and Traverse City, Mich. for prospect tournaments. Franchises see these get-togethers as important ways to measure and cultivate their developing talent. We'll be the first to admit we've sung the praises of drafting and developing players from within. We've used this forum many times to point...

by Mark Avery - AP View full size photo uploaded September 3, 2009 James - So Sillinger retired. That means the draftees in the 1989 Red Wings draft class have played, by my count, 5,721 NHL games (and counting with Lidstrom; we'll not discuss the what-might-have-beens of Vladimir Konstantinov's career). In terms of NHL games played by the draftees of a single team in a single draft, is this the most...

Who's next? Sergei Fedorov, after he's finished with his tour of duty in the KHL? Every Red Wings should take one thing away from Todd Bertuzzi's return: If you don't burn any bridges when you leave Detroit, you have a good shot to return. General manager Ken Holland likes to bring back former Wings, usually when they don't want as much money and are hungry...

As the Red Wings continue to negotiate with restricted free agent Jiri Hudler, management is combing the remnants of the unrestricted free-agent market in hopes of finding another gem. The Wings have had success signing players later in the summer, picking up Dan Cleary, Mikael Samuelsson, Andreas Lilja and Dallas Drake in recent years.

from James Cook of the Traverse City Record-Eagle, Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals will be a big advantage for the Detroit Red Wings. And not necessarily because of the crowd, says former Red Wing and Traverse City resident Dallas Drake. “The matchups are probably the most important thing,” Drake said Tuesday. “They get last (line) change and get certain people on the ice against...

Sports Illustrated has an article on the Detroit Red Wings’ 1989 draft, which was the foundation for what has been the best franchise in North American professional sports over the last 15 years. That draft brought them Nicklas Lidstrom, Sergei Federov, Vladimir Konstantinov and Dallas Drake — and their first two picks (Mike Sillinger [...]

I remember running a poll last summer, soon after Detroit had won its 11th Stanley Cup, asking if we could consider the Red Wings – winners of four Cups in 11 seasons at that point – a dynasty. The results were overwhelmingly in the "yes" category, and I'm sure they're even moreso a year later with the Red Wings on the brink of yet another potential triumph. Detroit has been a...

Tonite...if the Wings get pushed around a bit, perhaps lose a few battles along the boards or in the corners...keep in mind what Ken Daniels just said on Sirius HNIC radio. When asked what the Wings need at the deadline? “What they need is Dallas Drake.” And after Jeff Marek and Daniels both agreed Drake wasn’t coming out of retirement? The name Ian Laperriere came up. And after that?...

Dallas Drake isn't a small guy. But at 6 feet, 192 pounds, the recently retired Detroit Red Wings forward is dwarfed by his new likeness. Centre ICE arena in Traverse City, where the Wings train, is now adorned by a huge photo of Drake holding up the Stanley Cup that fills all the windows above the main entrance.
