Darcy Hordichuk wanted a multi-year contract, so he was let go over the summer. Josh Gratton was brought in during training camp, but he didn’t win a roster spot and never dressed for Nashville in the regular season. Nick Tarnasky was acquired from Tampa Bay while the Lightning were over in Prague, but after two months, he failed to impress with either his hockey skills or fisticuffs. Nashville Predators...

George Parros and Darcy Hordichuk squared off on Halloween night and it turned out to be pretty spooky for Parros. Even though the fight ended when Parros slipped and fell backwards, Hordichuk still landed couple of good shots to Parros’ mustache. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKojN1mubM4 Incidentally, I can’t believe Parros still sports that mustache. I think the return of the [...]

from John Glennon of the Tennessean, With the continued absence of injured Steve Sullivan, the recent defection of Alexander Radulov, the departure of Darcy Hordichuk and the news that Jed Ortmeyer will miss at least the next month — and likely longer — due to a blood clot, there are spots for the taking. Players who haven’t seen a moment of NHL action, such as Patric Hornqvist and Ryan Jones, are...

Twelve pounds each. We named Chandler when we lived in Chandler, Ariz., and Franklin when we lived in Franklin, Tenn. They’re loving it here in Vancouver, walking up and down the streets of...

from John Glennon of the Tennessean, So if the Predators do choose to wade into free agency, it will probably be on a lesser scale. Nashville may go after a tough-guy style player to replace the departed Darcy Hordichuk, and may seek out a veteran third goalie who likely would spend most of his season in Milwaukee of the American Hockey League. The Predators are more likely to execute a trade or two...

The Carolina Hurricanes pulled off one of those goofy pick-for-rights trades today and acquired the pesky Darcy Hordichuk from Nashville in exchange for a fifth-round pick in next year's draft. As Bubba points out, that likely spells the end of Wade Brookbank's 'Canes career (and at just 32 games), which is too bad. He'll be missed:
