Steven Davis and substitute Nacho Novo both claimed their first goals of the season to keep Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premier League with a win over Motherwell at Ibrox yesterday. Both players struck in the second half before David Clarkson pulled a goal back with a few minutes remaining.

A debut goal from John Sutton helped secure a point for the first time this season, although we should've taken all three with Chris Porter having a penalty saved by Zalsuka in the second half and David Clarkson hitting the bar with the keeper stranded.

Stephen Craigan played a comfortable 90 minutes to earn his 35th cap against Scotland at Hampden in last night's 0-0 draw. Unfortunately he didn't have the opportunity to test himself against Well team mate David Clarkson who was left on the bench all night.

Despite a double from David Clarkson bringing Well level on two occassions we shipped three goals at the other end to slump to a three two defeat on the SPL's opening day for 2008-09. Defensive frailties came back to haunt us once again, ans this is an area for McGhee to address.
