It's oddly appropriate that goaltending is carrying Colorado currently, because it's goaltending that probably sunk the club more than anything else last year. They have Budaj and Raycroft to "thank" for the impressive...

There was a time, not that long ago, when NHL free agency day was in the top ten days on my yearly calendar. I remember 2001, when I went to bed wondering if Sakic, Forsberg, and Blake would be elsewhere in the morning -- I woke up to find them all re-signed, and figured the Colorado Avalanche had locked up the next four Stanley Cups. Har de har. Even in recent years, I've been rapt. There was 2007,...

The Lightning just cannot catch a break on any level. Apparently, Josef Melichar's flight from Norfolk was delayed and the defenseman, who cleared re-entry waivers Tuesday, will not play for Tampa Bay against the Thrashers. That means David Koci is...

The Kings couldn't muster much of anything giving up two quick goals at the end of the first period. Their only comeback was a slapshot goal by Peter Harrold at the end of the second period assisted by Anze Kopitar. It's not looking good for the Kings right...

The rash of injuries in the Lightning locker room continues to break out. The latest to join the list is LW David Koci, who will be out two to four weeks after breaking his hand during a second-period fight with the Rangers' Colton Orr during Wednesday's game.

from Erik Erlendsson of the Bolts Report, David Koci apparently broke his hand during his fight with Colton Orr Wednesday night and is out 2-4 weeks with what the team is calling an upper-body injury (does it become lower body when his hands are at his side?). Also, Matt Pettinger has been listed as out 2-4 weeks which suggests he suffered a sprained ligament in his knee. Marek Malik is questionable...
