WASHINGTON, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Jose Theodore made 28 saves Friday to record the 27th shutout of his career and bring Washington a 3-0 win over Montreal. Theodore earned 23 of his shutouts while playing eight seasons with Montreal. Tomas Fleischmann, Alexander Ovechkin and David Steckel scored to help the Capitals win their second straight after enduring a three-game losing streak. Ovechkin extended...

A few quick notes from American Airlines Center: Jose Theodore will start in goal while David Steckel and Eric Fehr will be the scratches. Viktor Kozlov will return from a four game absence and skate on the top line. Defenseman John Erskine, after missing a game with a bruised calf, is also back in. Continuing the march through the forwards, the cousins and I turn to… David Steckel Last year: 5-7-12, +1, 56.3% faceoff pct. Career average (per-82 games): he hasn’t played 82 games yet, either Feerless’ Take : Odd, isn’t it, that Steckel doesn’t yet have a full season’s worth of NHL games experience (79 games over three seasons)? It just seems as if he’s been here a while. Maybe it’s the experience...

Some odds and ends on our last hockey-less Tuesday for a while: Darren Eliot likes the way the Caps' 2007-08 season ended, but not because he's a jerk (George James Malik, by the way, is not impressed with Eliot).... In 2005...the Caps signed David Steckel as a free agent. After a four-year career at The Ohio State University (those folks insist on putting "The" in front) -- 50-55-105, +29, in 146 games -- during which he was selected 30th overall in the 2001 entry draft by Los Angeles, he played for a year splitting time with Reading in the ECHL and the Kings' AHL farm club in Manchester. After that 2004-2005...

Comcast is my favorite company in the whole world (sarcasm alert). I have been with out internet/tv/lifeblood of information for the past 48 hours or so. Which means I missed the news that the Capitals have signed David Steckel to a year extension. Steckel's signing makes a lot of sense, he has been solid addition to the line up and seems on the verge of a break out year. He was good to go
