CALGARY, Alberta, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- Dustin Boyd scored the game-winning goal 5:40 into the third period Thursday, giving the Calgary Flames a 3-2 decision over Boston. Calgary won its fifth straight game behind 29 saves from Miikka Kiprusoff. The Flames put 38 shots on goal against Tim Thomas, who was coming off back-to-back shutouts. Stop the presses — despite being one of the most productive players during the pre-season, forward Dustin Boyd has been sent to AHL Quad Cities along with D Anders Eriksson and C Jamie Lundmark. D Rhett Warrener, waived earlier in the week, goes on IR. Boyd had seven points in the pre-season to share the team lead with David Moss. The Flames are currently flying to Vancouver, so no one from the club...

*&^*&^*&%*&^^(^!! According to Inside the Flames , Sutter has put his pet Rhett Warrener on IR...and...sent DUSTIN BOYD to the minors. Can you fucking believe this'? If this isn't rectified in short order, expect an extended, invective filled rant. EDIT - Sutter seemed to imply on the radio that this is a temporary move that won't last ("rosters change everyday..."). I bloody well hope so.

In chronological order: Mikael Backlund Dustin Boyd David Moss Brandon Prust Rene Bourque Curtis Glencross Mike Cammalleri Matthew Lombardi I tried to target guys that were new or had some question marks going into the new season. As such,...

Like Dustin Boyd and (hypothetically) Mikael Backlund, David Moss is a tough player to slot in the Flames depth chart. Since he broke into the league two years ago, Moss has served on just about every forward unit (besides Jarome's) from "energy" and "checking" to "scoring". His emergence complicated Tony Amonte's life once upon a time and made Chuck Kobasew expendable. Last year, Moss fell prey to...

While it might be fun to fantasize about Backlund making the bigs, the truth is Dustin Boyd will likely be the only Flames player next year playing under a two-way contract. First, some facts about Dustin: - He broke records in his native Manitoba as a 15 year-old Midget by scoring 50 goals and 107 points in 40 games. - He blossomed at the end of his WHL career after being chosen by the Flames in the...

from the Calgary Sun, Last season's surprise forward was David Moss. Well, he was to everybody but Calgary Flames GM Darryl Sutter, who expected the big winger to challenge for a full-time role at training camp last fall. This year, it could be Dustin Boyd, Andrei Taratukhin, Tomi Maki, Eric Nystrom, or maybe even Kris Chucko who carve out names for themselves in the NHL. The latter would certainly...
