The Maple Leafs showed some style Saturday when they wore their helmets backwards during the shootout, a hockey version of the rally cap. The Leafs went on to win, snapping a five-game losing streak. Matt Stajan (photo) was believed to be the instigator, but on Sunday he said, "Nah, it was all Jamal Mayers ."

from Mark Zwolinski of the Toronto Star, The party was mostly hush-hush, a players only affair. This party was a much-needed break from so much doom and gloom surrounding the daily process of trying to gel as a team, and get that elusive first win. So the players went all out. The best costume? “What did the guys say ... Jamal Mayers? Yeah, I’ll go with that,” said Luke Schenn, referring...

from Damian Cox of the Toronto Star, ...But you sure don’t go out of your way to comfort the enemy, right? Well, apparently, if you’re the Leafs, you do. Mired in a depressing five-game winless streak to start the season, the game operations staff thought that with the Colorado Avalanche in town Tuesday night it was a perfect time to pay tribute to Darcy (Sideshow Bob) Tucker, one of the...

Do you know why Toronto has the league’s highest ticket prices? It’s because the Leafs are so freakin worth it. So many stars to look at in the flesh. Why, at any second you can see Jason Blake skating and shooting. Jamal Mayers will be there, so will Jiri Tlusty. And if it’s defencemen you want to [...] Added by: rocket Viewed: 0 time(s) Tags/Keywords: atlanta thrashers florida...

"Jamal doesn't need to prove anything. We want to build a really good grind line and he's capable of doing that and killing penalties. He's in great shape and works hard in practice. You can't ever have enough of those guys." Ron Wilson explains , for the 1000th time, that Jamal Mayers will be a Maple Leaf come October 1st.

I hate official team sites. Can you imagine a more biased source of news? I suppose a site like mapleleafs.com would be fine if you were just looking for a schedule or to purchase tickets, but if you're looking for team news and insight, the official site is the last place I go. On the web, I've witnessed the birth of the Barilkosphere the past few years. There's a solid collection of Maple Leaf blogs...
