Browse more photos » 13 days ago these two teams met in Toilet Bowl I and the Leafs emerged victorious on the back of some great goaltending by Jonas Gustavsson and a game-winning goal by Jason Blake. A fortnight later and the two teams are ready to reprise their roles as neither one has been able to shed the anchor that...

Browse more photos » The Toronto Maple Leafs won the Hall of Fame game 5-1 as they used their forecheck and a determined defense to stymie a Detroit Red Wings team that had seemingly turned a corner. The Chris Osgood that had posted a .976 sv% over his last three games was replaced by the one that had a sub-.900 sv%...
RIP - Vesa Toskala's Stint as a Leaf Coach Ron Wilson - "When you get solid goaltending it certainly helps" Jason Blake- "He's made some saves that I call game-changers. Right at the key times and they've been outstanding. Last night and tonight, he was the difference. It was good to see." Phil Kessel - "Gustavsson in net tonight again - it's unbelievable. He played outstanding...

I dreamed that the Leafs came out flat but then came back and dominated the Hurricanes en route to a 3-2 win on the back of Jonas Gustavsson and strong play from Jason Blake and Phil...
Jason Blake scored on a power play with 8:24 left and Jonas Gustavsson made 34 saves to help the Toronto Maple Leafs win for the second time in 14 games this season, 3-2 over the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday night.

In case you need some instructions, I present to you the following step by step graphic. Jason Blake 's screen saver. (via www.guidofistpump.com ) The Leafs play the Hurricanes tonight. The last time we met, Jason Blake was highly motivated to make a fool out of Paul Maurice. I'm hoping he hasn't forgotten that feeling... Dr. Steve has been busy, with two posts. The first, a comparison of Jeff Finger...
More photos » by Ross D. Franklin - AP Browse more photos » It's painfully obvious that the Leafs need a better option to pass to Phil Kessel than Matt Stajan . They also probably need a better winger than Jason Blake on that line but that's a Question of the Day for another day. Today's question: what should the Leafs do at centre? Stay the course: Tyler Bozak and Nazem Kadri are in the...
The Barilkosphere is buzzing with talk of Phil. For the first time since Kessel became a Leaf, everytime his name was mentioned, it was not instantly followed with "for two first round picks and a second." No, when Kessticle came to the fore, it was followed or preceded by words like "wow" or "amazing" or "super fly." OK, maybe not super fly. But you'd be hard...
I feel badly for Phil Kessel. Brian Burke paid a hefty price to bring Kessel to town, giving up a 1st and 2nd round draft pick in 2010 and another 1st round pick in 2011. The way this season is going, that 1st pick next year could easily be in the top three overall. It's a pretty high price for a player who recorded his season high for goals last year with 36. He had Marc Savard feeding him last season....
The Puck Whisperer (via cache.daylife.com ) Jonas talks to the puck and settles it down. He says "it's OK, you don't need to go in the net. You don't even want to go in the net." The puck quietly comes to rest at Gustavsson's feet, and the gentle giant some call "Monster" reaches down and gently scoops the puck out of harms way. "There, there little buddy. Doesn't that feel...

Also, Gustavsson's save percentage wasn't...
