And now we know why Jeff Taffe was put on waivers (which, by the way, he cleared today. He’ll report to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton). Pens’ GM Ray Shero filled that open spot on the roster by acquiring checking line winger Mike Zigomanis from the Phoenix Coyotes for future considerations.

The Penguins placed forward Jeff Taffe on waivers today. If he clears waivers, he’ll report to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. I have to be honest, I’ve never been a big fan of Taffe. I’ve thought that he is fairly slow and his hands have never been that good. It simply appears that the third and fourth liners that the Penguins have kept are faster and grittier than Taffe.
