Update from Tuesday's practice: After one game, Mike Babcock already has scuttled the pairings he tried to stick with Monday at Nashville. During Tuesday's practice, Nicklas Lidstrom was still with Jonathan Ericsson, but the Wings plan to use Brad Stuart with Brian Rafalski on the other top pair, and use those four against opposing top lines. Babcock said the rest of the shifts will...

- If you're holding onto Jean-Sebastien Giguere thinking he's going to get traded to the Detroit Red Wings, think again. There are a lot of rumors floating around about Giggy getting dealt to Detroit, but unless Brian Rafalski is part of that deal, its simply not possible due to the salary cap. Detroit's front office has also come out and said that they are not interested in Giguere and are happy...

Chris Osgood is 8 pounds lighter; Jimmy Howard, four games wiser. After a nearly weeklong battle with a nasty virus, Osgood is back at work and nearing a return to his starting job in net for the Red Wings. While Osgood has ailed, Howard has thrived on a workload that saw him make 29 saves in a 3-1 loss to Dallas Wednesday at Joe Louis Arena.

I see tonight’s game against the Dallas Stars as an important one for Jimmy Howard. He has played well lately, and you can sense trust being gained in him by the organization and its fans. But as we only know too well in this town, it just takes one bad game to break that trust for a Red Wings’ goalie. That’s what happened to Ty Conklin to a degree last year during a late season game...

from Ansar Khan of Mlive, Here are five pressing questions regarding the Red Wings: 1. Were the past two games a turning point in goaltender Jimmy Howard’s career? For Howard, it’s a matter of confidence and consistency. His performance was a huge boost, not only for his own confidence but for the team’s confidence in him. After playing well in Columbus Wednesday, he stole Thursday’s...

Well. That was pretty much a complete 180 from every worry I was developing ulcers from. I mean, the Columbus game was just ridiculous on a level I don't think can be explained. When my team wins by more than five goals, I don't really have much to say except "awesome". Awesome. And as much as you never want to see your starting goaltender sick at home, Howard's play in last night's game...

The Detroit Red Wings kicked, clawed, struggled and somehow found a way to put 2 goals into Roberto Luongo’s net. As it turned out, for the second night in a row, this was enough for a victory. Both without Chris Osgood. Jimmy Howard, after a solid night against Columbus, was outstanding back home in Detroit against [...]
