Sidney Crosby is Good at Soccer, Too

Last season, there were a ton of articles that chronicled how the Pens and other teams got loose before big hockey games. I'd search for those articles, but I'm a lazy piece of shit. However, I found a picture that I remember seeing last year. It shows Petr Sykora, Jordan Staal, Ryan Malone, Evgeni Malkin and Max Talbot('s little face behind Sykora's mouth) partaking in a little soccer action

A Little Help From My Friends

No matter how you look at it, this is a big year for Jordan Staal. With a contract up next year, Staal needs a boost in his numbers if he wants to command the type of salary he's capable of getting. So how does a natural center get his offensive groove back? With a little help from an old friend ... We talk a lot about leadership both on and off the ice, but what does it really come down to? Sometimes...

Jordan Staal’s rising power

From SI.com’s Darren Eliott; Much is written about the Pittsburgh Penguins with good reason. They have electric young talent in current NHL scoring leader Evgeni Malkin, the face of the league in Sidney Crosby, and an excellent young goaltender in Marc-Andre Fleury. Oh yeah, and the Pens are the defending Eastern Conference Champions, owned by Hall of Fame icon Mario Lemieux. In other words, the Penguins...

Silly Nannies @ Penguins Tonight At 7:30

The Philadelphia Silly Nannies come to the Igloo tonight to take on our Pens. After Tuesday's game I will be glued to the Pens for the rest of the year. Pittsburgh's 7-6 overtime win at Detroit was probably the best hockey game I ever watched. I hope all the "trade Jordan Staal" or "send Staal down to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton" crap is over. As for the Family Guy reference, don't ask because I don't have...

Revenge is Ever So Sweet

Last night's game against the Red Wings was perfect, just perfect. We didn't play a perfect game, but the result was no less sweet. Going into the third period it was not looking like we would pull it out, but did we ever. Jordan Staal deserves that hat trick and it was great for him to get it in that game. He has seemed a bit haunted early this season and it was great to see him breakout. Crosby,...

Defending the Cup: Game 14

I don’t know about you, but I got cocky last night when the Wings were up 5-2 in the third. I loved that the Wings were ahead and looked poised to reemphasize their dominance over the Pens. When Evgeni Malkin scored, my smile faded a little, and when Jordan Staal kicked off this third period [...]

Nothing But Staal

I’d love to know the Versus ratings on last night’s Red Wings/Penguins game. It seemed liked everyone was watching it. The Wings blew a three-goal lead and were pretty much single-handedly beaten by Pittsburgh’s Jordan Staal. Staal has a lot of offensive talent for a natural shut-down center and he struggles with balancing the offense [...]

Staal's the star as Penguins rally for OT win over Red Wings

The Pittsburgh Penguins might not miss Marian Hossa after all. Jordan Staal had a hat trick in the third period and set up Ruslan Fedotenko's winning goal with 1:11 in overtime, lifting the visiting Penguins to a 7-6 comeback win over the Detroit Red Wings last night.

Is Jordan Staal in the Penguins’ future plans ??

Way back during the 2006-2007 NHL season, Pittsburgh Penguins fans certainly had visions of offensive domination for years to come. Sidney Crosby had 36 goals and 120 points, plus the Hart, Art Ross and Pearson trophies. Evgeni Malkin had 33 goals and 85 points, quickly establishing him as one of the league’s most feared snipers. And then there was Jordan Staal. He burst on the scene in impressive...

Pens win in st louis

This was a great game to bring an end to a lackluster road trip. Jordan Staal needed that goal even though it was just am empty-netter. It was a chippy game and the pens held tough. This was the boost the team needed. Crosby played a good game, but is not at 100%. More on the pens later... Sent from my iPod

Change in travel plans cancels Staal brothers meeting

The Canes' abrupt change in travel plans for the Penguins game also led to a change for center Eric Staal. And the Pens' Jordan Staal.
