Early in Saturday’s third period against the Sabres, Brad Marchand appeared to throw an elbow at Buffalo’s Mike Grier as the players skated off the ice. Marchand wasn’t called for a penalty, but later in the period, the incident would come back to haunt the Bruins center.

We were visiting the Red Wings web site, and we took note of the various season ticket plans that were available. Leaving aside the fact that we never thought we'd ever see the Red Wings advertising this late in the year for season ticket plans, we were struck by what was available. Of course, they have the "45 game" plan that covers all regular seaon and preseason games (note to staff...

from Bucky Gleason of the Buffalo News, General Manager Darcy Regier isn’t going to win executive of the year for his work in the offseason, but at least he made an attempt to address obvious flaws when he signed winger Mike Grier and defenseman Steve Montador. They give the Sabres a stronger backbone without getting involved in senseless scraps found in the schoolyard. To me, that’s toughness....

The Sabres have been busy in the past few days signing the youth of their team. Drew Stafford received a 2 year deal that will pay him $1.5M this year and $2.3M next year. Tyler Ennis has also been signed to a 3 year deal. I give Darcy a lot of credit locking up this years free agents. Sekera and MacArthur for roughly $1M a year, and now Stafford at about $2M. No way back in June would I have thought...

from Jerry Sullivan of the Buffalo News, What have the Sabres done since missing the playoffs for a second straight year? They brought in Steve Montador and Mike Grier in an inexpensive reply to critics who said they lacked the toughness and will to compete for a Stanley Cup. Darcy Regier and Larry Quinn conceded that their team needed more “compete,” without identifying the offending players...
