One of the silver linings to an otherwise gloomy Maple Leaf season has been the remarkable health of the club so far. While other teams have been losing players by the bushel, the Leaf have only Mike Van Ryn gone indefinitely and Mike Komisarek rehabbing a short-term injury.

It was announced on Oct. 16 that defenceman Mike Van Ryn of the Toronto Maple Leafs will miss the whole NHL season. Van Ryn will undergo surgery at the Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine Clinic in his home town of London, Ont., to have osteotomy surgery on his left knee.
