Xtreme Machine acquires Ryan Getzlaf and Nikolai Khabibulin: Before the Dany Heatley trade, I had Ryan Getzlaf ranked in my top 5 forwards. Seeing him get off to a slow start was just what I needed to make a "Buy Low" offer. Getzlaf got off to a slow start last year as well, but caught on fire the rest of the way and with the improved offense in Anaheim, I'm expecting a 100 point season....

from Eric Stephens of Ducks Blog at the OC Register, Consider that after three days of stewing over a 5-0 home beating at the hands of St. Louis, their response Wednesday night was falling behind to Dallas by three goals and being severely outshot by the Stars in the process. That the Ducks rallied to make it a close game in the third period did not assuage any ill feelings. In fact, the temperature...

from Eric Stephens of Ducks Blog, Here’s a question about the Ducks that once would ordinarily have been unfathomable to ponder. Are they tough enough? Those who witnessed their 5-0 loss to St. Louis on Saturday night may have had that thought cross their minds after watching the Ducks mostly get pushed around by a youthful, energetic squad. Would that have ever had happened over the past four...

Ryan Getzlaf knows his life could be much more hectic. It could take him much longer to get out of the locker room after every game or practice because of the media demands if he were playing in Toronto or Montreal. Star players there are treated like the equivalent of the New York Yankees in New York, [...]

There are going to be many months ahead for more thorough analysis of what Team Canada's Olympic entry should look like, but here's a little cheat sheet with which to watch this week's goings on at the orientation camp. Keep in mind that these categories don't reflect my choices for the team — they merely indicate where I think players slot in in the minds of the selection committee: Locks to...
