The rumours with the Chicago Blackhawks are back on the front burner this weekend. The Hawks have some serious cap issues right now and the Senators might be willing to take a player of their hands. Word is the Senators have interest in defenceman Cam Barker. Ottawa would apparently send Ryan Shannon and Alex Picard to the Windy City in return. I would think draft picks would have to be involved as...
Devastating blow for Shean Donovan and the Ottawa Senators. The results of the MRI are in and showed MCL damage as well as possible ACL damage. As first reported by Brent Wallace, Donovan will miss at least 6-8 weeks. After that time he'll test out the knee and see if there is any further damage. The good news, if there is any, is that surgery is not required. Donovan has done a great job on the Senators...
PREGAME -Greetings from rainy and dreary Western Pennsylvania. High 40s and nothing but rain all day. Just awful. -The Penguins get a Superstar and a Sarge back tonight and they've each done damage to the Senators in the past: -FSN Pittsburgh wants to know what you want to watch. Something on Jaromir Jagr, Bob Johnson or last season's Stanley Cup title. We're voting for Johnson: -Mark Eaton will play...
( UPDATE 2:35 PM )- Alex Kovalev will miss the next couple of games. He has returned to Russia after the death of his wife's mother. All the best to Alex and his family during this difficult time. Shannon will take his place in the line up. http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=298978 The Senators continue their 5 game homestand with a visit from the defending champs tonight at Scotiabank Place. Tonight is the...
According to Brent Wallace at TSN, Brian Elliott will get the call this afternoon when the Senators host the New York Rangers. Ryan Shannon returns to the press box. Shean Donovan takes his spot in the line up. Puck drop is at 2. The game can be seen on CBC. Sent on the TELUS Mobility network with BlackBerry
Ottawa Senators fans will get their first look at what could have been tonight when the Edmonton Oilers visit the Senators at Scotiabank Place tonight. The off season blockbuster that very nearly sent Dany Heatley to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for Dustin Penner, Andrew Cogliano and Ladislav Smid was vetoed by Dany Heatley and his no trade clause. Even to this day, there are those in the Senators...
The Ottawa Senators will look for their second straight win tonight when they host the New Jersey Devils. Ottawa is coming off an OT victory over the Lightning on Thursday night at SBP. The Devils played last night so fatigue could be a factor. Jesse Winchester will make his regular season debut, taking the place of Ryan Shannon up front. Shean Donovan is also a scratch. Brodeur and Leclaire will start...
I've always hated any statement that begins with, "If the season were to end today..." The season doesn’t end today. It’s a flawed premise which makes it a flawed statement. So any person using that statement is a complete idiot. That being said…IF THE SEASON WERE TO END TODAY, THE SENS WOULD BE IN THE PLAYOFFS!!!! Right. We're 11 games in. Too early for parade planning....
The Ottawa Senators play their first road game in 11 days when they visit the Florida Panthers tonight on TSN 2. The Senators last road tilt came two Saturdays ago, when the Senators beat the division rival Habs in Montreal. The Senators will get a boost tonight with the return of Filip Kuba . Kuba has been out of the line up since the season opener and should help settle a struggling power play. Ottawa...
It looks as though rookie Peter Regin will be ready to go tomorrow when the Senators host the Nashville Predators. Regin has played well early this season and deserves a spot in the line up even with the Senators playing well in his absence. Question is, who comes out of the line up? At this point it looks as though either Shean Donovan or Ryan Shannon will be scratched. If Shannon does stay in the...
Just a couple of quick notes from Senators practice today courtesy of the Ottawa Senators Twitter Feed. The line combinations looked like this... Kovalev -Fisher- Alfredsson Michalek - Spezza - Cheechoo Foligno - Regin -Neil- Winchester/ Ruutu -Kelly-Shannon/Donovan Couple of interesting thing to note there. Jesse Winchester, who has been out the past few weeks, did skate with the team this morning...
The Senators will look to return to their winning ways tonight when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning at Scotiabank Place. The Senators had their three game win streak halted at the hands of the defending champions on Monday night and will look to get back in the win column tonight starting at 7:30 PM on TSN . Looks like the Senators will have the same lines as Monday with Peter Regin again missing...
The Ottawa Senators will be looking for their fourth straight victory tonight when they host the defending champs at Scotiabank Place. The Senators are coming off victories over the Leafs, Islanders and Thrashers but face their toughest test of the season tonight in the Pittsburgh Penguins. Ryan Shannon will return to the line up tonight. Kuba and Winchester are still on the shelf. Here is a look at...
A preview of the Senators. When and where: 7:30 p.m, Scotiabank Place. TV: FSN Pittsburgh, Sportsnet-East. Record: 3-1-0, 6 points. The Senators are in first place in the Northeast Division and second place in the Eastern Conference. With the Penguins in first place with eight points, this has quietly become a battle for the conference lead. Leading Scorer: Daniel Alfredson ( right ) and Mike Fisher,...
On a night where Mike Fisher scored the overtime winner it was an unlikely hero that won over the fans at Scotiabank Place. Matt Carkner picked up a goal, his first in the NHL, and added an assist on the Regin goal on his way to a first star performance. While some of the big guns struggle to find their games early on in the season the Senators again found a way to win a game that appeared to be getting...
