Post-Vegas Rumours

So I have returned from my beautifully relaxing trip to Las Vegas, and return to provide you all with the latest rumours. Let's start in Toronto, where I am hearing a package of Stempniak and one of White/Van Ryn could be on the move for a 2nd Round Pick (2010 or 2011, depending on what the team has available). One team I've heard interested in this sort of package from the Leafs is Nashville. Both...

Defense, Goalies and Perception

If you talk to Avs fans about their lousy season, you'll often hear how awful the defense was. It was obviously a sore spot with the team placing 26th overall in terms of GA. The strange this is, none of the metrics aside from goals against suggest that Colorado was bad in their own end. The Avalanche actually allowed the 9th fewest shots against per game (29). And it's not like they were giving up...

Hannan pinning hopes on 2010

Look out! It's an Avalanche of injuries

The Avs were hurting, playing without Peter Forsberg, whose groin injury kept him out a second straight game. Shut-down defenseman Scott Hannan and forward Wojtek Wolski sat out with undisclosed injuries. Jose Theodore, who was pulled in Game 1 and is suffering from flu, was pulled 10:11 into the second period in Game 2.

Toews Highlight Goal

from NHL.com, Toews, the Hawks’ top pick in 2006, took Kane’s feed while speeding through the neutral zone, raced past a forward and burst between defensemen Scott Hannan and Brett Clark before beating Theodore. “It happened so fast,” Toews said. “I was lucky their D-men were a little flatfooted. I don't think they expected me to come in with that much speed. I was pretty...

Lots of candidates, one opening
