from Chris Johnston of the CP via the Globe and Mail, There will probably be a crowded class when the Hall opens its doors again next November. Steve Yzerman is a lock to enter in his first year of eligibility and it’s hard to imagine Brett Hull, Brian Leetch and Luc Robitaille not joining him. All four of those players were legitimate stars in their prime and each has won a Stanley Cup along with...

Steve Yzerman's first big problem as Team Canada's Olympic general manager is a wardrobe malfunction. The jersey Canada has used for 13 years -- Yzerman wore it for the 2002 gold medal-winning team in Salt Lake City -- is against Olympic rules.

Steve Yzerman knows how important Hockey Canada's logo is, the one with the hockey player framed inside a red and black Maple Leaf. He's worn it, celebrated in it, and would like to see Canada's team emboldened by it when it hits the ice at the 2010 Vancouver/Whistler Olympics.

Steve Yzerman likened the operation to having his leg sawed in half. Canadian skier Genevieve Simard, having now experienced the surgery herself, isn't about to dispute that assessment.

from Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun, The naming of Steve Yzerman as executive director of Team Canada for the 2010 Winter Olympics is a slap in the face of the history of hockey. This has nothing to do with Yzerman himself, who was a superb player and is a fine hockey man, and everything to do with Hockey Canada again ignoring the obvious. For reasons it can best explain, Hockey Canada remains obsessed...

There are a lot of compelling reasons why Steve Yzerman was chosen as executive director of Canada's 2010 men's Olympic hockey team, but maybe the most important of all is that he was actually on the ice, in 2002, when Canada won the gold medal and ended a 50-year drought.
