Andy Hilbert and Trent Hunter had the other goals for the Islanders, who beat the Senators three times in a season for the first time since Ottawa rejoined the NHL in 1992.

Believe it or not, there was a time when Andy Hilbert saw himself as a goal scorer. Maybe not the next Mario Lemieux, but a guy capable of producing more than 30 goals a season, a feat he accomplished twice with Providence in the AHL.

If the New York Islanders can score four goals in the first period regularly, it won't matter much who is in net behind them. Mike Comrie, Trent Hunter, Sean Bergenheim and Andy Hilbert all tallied in the first 20 minutes of the home opener, and backup goalie...

SUNRISE, Fla. - Starting in warm-ups for Tuesday night's 8-4 loss in Tampa Bay, the Islanders lost three more veterans to injury, including forwards Andy Hilbert and Ruslan Fedotenko and defenseman Brendan Witt . Considering the number of injury replacements already dotting his lineup, Ted Nolan moaned, "I don't know if we're the New York Islanders or the Bridgeport Sound Tigers right now."

One Islander was plus-2 in a 3-2 overtime loss to Carolina yesterday afternoon at Nassau Coliseum. That would be rookie Blake Comeau, who was on the ice for a goal by Andy Hilbert before he assisted on Miroslav Satan's goal.

Scores in overtime to snap losing streak; even Guerin nets one TAMPA, Fla. - It was a roller-coaster ride in which Bill Guerin ended his 16-game streak without a goal, Andy Hilbert scored his second of the season and Islanders goaltender Rick DiPietro committed an error that nearly threw it all away after an otherwise brilliant game on his part. But Mike Sillinger, who lost his stick on Tampa Bay's...

The Isles won the rematch in their home-and-home with the Bruins, but the big news — in many words or few — was that hard-working, hard-luck forward Andy Hilbert finally scored. The bad news is that only Richard Park accompanied him in the goal department, as the Islanders offense continues to squeak by only thanks to [...]

As slow as Andy Hilbert's start has been, last year was even worse. Hilbert recorded his first goal and point with one second-period shot, and Richard Park snapped a tie in the third to lift the New York Islanders to a 2-1 victory over the Boston Bruins on Saturday.

For most of this season, Andy Hilbert played a valuable role on the Islanders' best two-way line with Mike Sillinger and Trent Hunter. But a shoulder injury and the presence of Ryan Smyth forced him to the fourth line, where he is matched with penalty-killing partner Richard Park and Richard Zednik.
