Coach Bruce Boudreau said after the morning skate that the key tonight was going to not allowing the Sharks to get off to a big start. Well, how about three goals on five shots? Does that count? Donald Brashear beat down Jody Shelley in the opening minutes. But it was pretty much all downhill after that for the Caps, who still haven't won in San Jose since 1993 while watching their overall losing streak...

ANAHEIM – Chris Young saw the fight coming before the first face-off. The Padres pitcher has yet to attempt ice skates, but the man knows his hockey. He knows Donald Brashear by reputation and he has known George Parros since they were Princeton pals nearly a decade ago. So as he stepped out of his limousine Wednesday night at the Honda Center, Young was already anticipating a bout between the two...

Defenseman John Erskine will miss tonight's game in Phoenix with a bruised calf. He'll be replaced in the lineup by Sergei Fedorov, who will move from first line center to the blue line. Fedorov will be paired with Milan Jurcina. Erskine's absence leaves Donald Brashear and Matt Bradley to handle any of the rough stuff tonight. And there probably will be some that considering who's in the lineup for...

Some notes and quotes from the morning skate to get you ready for tonight's game at Pengrowth Saddledome: *Jose Theodore, as expected, will start in net while the forward lines and 'D' pairings are the same as yesterday. (Donald Brashear is in and Eric Fehr is out.) *Flames Coach Mike Keenan, already on the hot seat after his team has blown leads in four consecutive games, held a 35-minute closed door...

According to Corey, Tyler Sloan has been called up from Hershey. Sloan, a gritty stay at home defenseman, will most likely make the western swing road trip with the Capitals. This might also but the kibosh on Sergei Fedorov's time as a defenseman. This also means that Tom Poti, Donald Brashear and Viktor Kozlov may not make the trip. The Capitals are a bit up against the salary cap, which

Injuries already have the Caps calling up some talent for Saturday's game against the Devils according to Capitals Public Relations. Chris Bourque will suit up for the Caps as Donald Brashear, Tom Poti, and Viktor Kozlov have nagging injuries that will keep them out of the line up. Because the Caps have brought up a forward, it's almost certian that Sergei Fedorov will be back on defense.

As of right now, the Caps are practicing without Viktor Kozlov (knee), Donald Brashear (hand) and Tom Poti (groin) and Sergei Fedorov (rest, I'm assuming). I haven't heard about any call-ups -- yet. But the day is young....Please click on the title to continue reading this entry.

Donald Brashear did not make the trip to Pittsburgh, but Coach Bruce Boudreau said he's hopeful the veteran enforcer will Saturday against New Jersey. Boudreau also confirmed that Jose Theodore will be in net and said the forward lines and pairings will be the same as yesterday's. Former Cap Matt Cooke, the only player who can say he's played with both Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby, won't play tonight....

Injuries to Viktor Kozlov (left leg) and Donald Brashear (hand) has forced Coach Boudreau to shake up his lines, and as of this moment, here's how they look: Ovechkin-Backstrom-Clark Laich-Nylander-Semin Fleischmann-Fedorov-Fehr Steckel-Gordon-Bradley Kozlov, of course, is expected to miss two weeks. Brashear, however, is another story. He was struck on the hand with a puck Monday, but Boudreau said...

Viktor Kozlov, Alexander Semin and Donald Brashear are not practicing today, so the lines are all over the place. Fedorov is back on up front and Fehr, obviously, is in the lineup because of Kozlov's left leg injury. Not sure what -- if anything -- is wrong with Semin and Brashear. Here's what things look like at the moment: Forwards Ovechkin-Backstrom-Clark Fleischmann-Fedorov-Fehr Laich-Nylander-Gordon...

LCS Hockey had some choice words for the Caps’ enforcer Donald Brashear after his opening night scrap with the Thrashers’ Zach Bogosian. The “child abuse” line is hysterical and just another reason I love LCS Hockey so much. Brashear is a punk. Always has been, always will be. Jumping an 18-year-old rookie in his first NHL [...]

Next up among the forwards… Donald Brashear Last Year: 5-3-8, -7, 119 PIMs Career average (per-82 games): 7-10-17, -7, 216 PIMs Feerless’ Take : There comes a time when, in Brashear’s particular line of work, you become the bear no one wants to poke. It is a station in the sport that comes at the price of a lot of work and pain. Brashear has had, according to hockeyfights.com, 212 fights in his NHL...

One month from tonight, the Caps will be in Atlanta to open the season against the Thrashers... but for today, you get a link dump. The National Post wrote the same article that EMac wrote three weeks ago, and in it they referred to Donald Brashear as "a reigning heavyweight champion." Edward Fraser of The Hockey News isn't as easily impressed, as he didn't list The Donald among the ten fighters

Dan Hellie vs. Dave Feldman, while Donald Brashear watches. The Caps held their media fantasy camp today. Something about watching videos and learning to skate and shooting on goal, yada yada yada. Really, it was just an excuse to fake spar with Donald Brashear and Matt Bradley. Chiefly Brashear. Around about the time he was dancing in front of Cakes from the Junkies and making some gentle feints with...
