from Chris Stevenson of the Ottawa Sun, Along with a player like Sean Avery (who topped the SI poll) of the Stars, Ruutu sets the standard when it comes to agitating in the NHL. “I guess you could say so. That’s why I get paid a lot, I’m sure,” said the 33-year-old. “I don’t think they want me to score goals. I have to play with my strengths and not try to do too much other stuff. Obviously, you want...

Let this be a template for every half-talented jock sniffer who wants to compose a song dedicated to her/his favourite team. See what he did there? The Vancouver musician who composed this ditty about Jarkko Ruutu made sure not to reference a particular team, so the tune has been able to follow him from the Canucks, to the Pittsburgh Penguins and now the Senators, where it might get some

Matt Cooke signed a two year deal worth $2.4 million with the Pens on Saturday. He took a pay cut to come to Pittsburgh. He can also chip in offensively more than Ruutu did. Cooke will score 10-15 goals and won't kill you with penalty minutes,...

from Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Ruutu reiterated his desire to remain with the Penguins—“Pittsburgh is a great team and, hopefully, we can work something out”—and said that the Malone-Roberts trade did nothing to change that. “It’s part of the business,” Ruutu said. “Every team, it happens.” Ruutu, who made $1.15 million in each of the past two seasons, is one of hockey’s top antagonists...

I had a good post about Marian Hossa testing free agency instead of taking the Pens' purported 3 year $22 million deal, but Wordpress ate it. Sign Ryan Malone, Brooks Orpik, Jarkko Ruutu, and Gary Roberts instead and then beat him up when they play against him. THE END.
