from George Richards of On Frozen Pond, Been getting a ton of emails regarding the Jay Bouwmeester trade rumors. Isn’t going to happen, so relax. and this too, For Florida to make this move, you would have to gather that Mike Van Ryn would be headed north, his $3-plus million salary in each of the next two seasons going to Toronto in exchange for McCabe and his $6.15 million wage for this season. Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Bryan McCabe may apparently be willing to consider waiving his movement clause to accept a trade but that doesn’t mean he’ll be dealt soon.... Bouwmeester was a restricted free agent. Next year (at age 25 - since he has been in the NHL since age 18) will be the earliest time he can be an unrestricted free agent and chose the location where he plays.

The Miami Herald's George Richards is calling this as a good thing for the Panthers. Avoiding arbitration puts everyone in a better state of mind to maybe get something longterm done. Richards also says Bouwmeester wants...
